I actually prefer McCain to Obama, but the ignorance I encounter on a daily basis makes me want to judo chop some rednecks in the crotch. Fact: 80% of southerners are still a bunch of racist, know-nothing hicks. It pains me to admit it, but it's totally true. At least there are a few that can think for themselves.

So yeah, Obama won't win a single state in the south due to ignorance and good old-fashioned racism. He'll still win the election though, based on the strength of bigger states. I'm not passionate about either him or McCain, but I really just can't get past Obama's tax plan.

Hmm well I'm in the middle of the south (Tennessee) and I have yet to hear racist remarks of him. I don't think 80% of us are still a bunch of racist know nothing hicks.(maybe in bama but that's God's wasteland) I would say the majority of us are pretty laid back people. Plus have you been to atlanta or montgomery, new orleans, jacksonville? huge black populations so if the south is so bad about race why are so many around?

But, is it not true that different religions embrace different moral values? So, would I be wrong for selecting a representative who agrees with my values? The name of the religion becomes a matter of mere nomenclature if I am making a value judgement. I'm not a religious nut, but I don't think it's necessarily evil to allow religious leanings to influence one's vote. Not that those people aren't being dicks in this particular instance.

EDIT: If you live in the South, you know we are the one demographic that can still be slandered, libeled, and insulted. That's what happens when you lose the war.

Actually that is all funny. Obama is looking at taking Florida, West Virgina, Virgina, and North Carolina. It is not the white people that will get him the votes there really. I imagine some liberally minded southern white people will vote for Obama in those states, but people seem to forget that a LOT of African American people live in the South. The majority of them are voting for Obama.
