Late Spring, but hot enough to be mid-Summer.
But it will be summer during Christmas, which is when the OP is visiting.
Right-o, didn't think of that,my bad.
Then he needs to bring a fan or three.
Summer here is EEEVIL.

A volley ball, for beach volley ball. My sources indicate it's actually summer in Australia, queer as that may seem.

OT: BRING EVERYTHING.
Our government is seriously against people buying games for a good price (~$100 for ONE GAME) so bring them all, or an many as you can fit, plus the console, and make sure YOU DON'T GO OUTSIDE.
Our wildlife is murderous.
I live in New Zealand, so I am purchasing the games here

Thanks for being on topic, but be more specific
1. Smart move buying in NZ.
2. Bring the consoles, a laptop (if that's what you'll bring too), a wireless adapter, other things to help your gaming stuff, even a set of cables/adapters for the console if you plan on doing online.

Also, bring something that can cool you down.
As I said to dags, summer here is as hot as a sauna sometimes, and twice as humid.
I'd take a portable fan just in case, because in summer, they break from over-usage.

Forget the games. Bring guns, lots of guns. Remember in Australia..
Everything is deadly
Everything!!!

joking aside Australia is awesome. why the hell are you planning on brining games to a holiday trip? just enjoy the all natural (and deadly) beauty that is.

Oh yeah, when I'm not on night duty for camel spiders I'm having to shoo away crocodiles.

In all seriousness it really depends on what you're interests are, if you're looking for something you can really sink your teeth into I'd reccomend either Minecraft or oblivion. What part of Aus you coming to?

You like RPGs? Get Planetscape: Torment, that should keep you busy for a while.
This if you plan on playing on a PC and are looking for low-end specs. Pretty much just hit up GOG.com, there are so many great old school games there that you could never leave your hotel room.

Personally I prefer packing light for 'off time' entertainment. If I'm going to bring games at all I'd bring my DS or PSP. Do you have any handhelds, or have any interest in them?

I've owned a PSP, GBA, and now a Nintendo DS and I'd say the DS is absolutely worth the purchase for any RPG fan. If you're low on budget a GBA is a good alternative.

GBA I'd get Final Fantasy 6 if you haven't played it already, or even if you have. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is also a great way to pass the time if you're into turn-based RPGs at all.

As far as Nintendo DS titles there are many. Again if you like turn based tactical games you can go with Final Fantasy Tactics A2, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, or Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. For more traditional RPGs I can safely recommend Final Fantasy 3 and 4, Chrono Trigger, or Dragon Quest IX. Two great Action/Adventure games are Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals and Spectrobes: Beyond the Portal. Metroid Prime: Hunters is a great litle shooter for the DS if you wanted to look into that.

Jesus guys haven't you ever been on Vacation? He's not going to be able to spend 24/7 on the beach, there is always down time.

Besides, am I the only one who thinks beaches can get boring? Maybe I was spoiled growing up in Hawaii, but its just sand and water. After about 2-3 hours a day, I'm kind of ready to do something else.

Also I burn like an albino, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Enjoy your vacation. You can play games when you get back. Go to the beach, restaurants, places of interest etc.

Coming down under eh? Sorry if that sounded Canadian. You shouldn't be playing games, you should be going places. If you're coming to Queensland, there's the Gold Coast - oh, but the blasted schoolies is on down there. You'll want to avoid that like the plague. But we have Fraser Island. That place has wild dingos you can see (but must never, ever feed, it's bad for them).

It depends on what State you go to, but there should be plenty to see. Unless you're actually going to spend most of your time in Brisbane, hah, this place has virtually nothing, except that ferris wheel. If you're going to NSW, obviously there's Sydney and the Opera House. If you're going to Victoria, you might be able to get up close to the twelve apostles (well, what remains of them) - giant rock pillars standing near the shore as a result of the process of erosion.

If you're going to Western Australia, I guess you could see some..... mines. Or the desert. Honestly, I know next to nothing about WA. Then there's Tasmania, which no one pays any attention to. Seriously, we pay more attention to New Zealand than Tasmania. But since Tasmania doesn't have many buildings, and is quite far down south, you should get great skies for star watching. South Australia has some nice....er... well, I don't know much about that state either. Australia's a big place - larger than the continental USA, but home to only 23 Million people. And most of the centre of it's an arid hell that no one wants to live in.

But regardless of which state you go to, you've got to go to Uluru, or Ayer's Rock if you will. Simply magnificent.

And stay the heck out of Canberra. Supposed to be our Capital, the place is a boring joke. It's even more boring than Brisbane, which I thought wasn't possible when I visited recently.

But if you insist on playing video games, and need a long, LONG video game to get you through, either a Final Fantasy or Persona game would do you right. Persona 3 came out on the PSP recently, and while it's certainly isn't as good on the PSP as on the PS2, it lasts a hell of a long time (67 hours in, still haven't finished but I'm close).

But seriously, bring games over here, don't buy games here. We've got nothing that any other country doesn't have, and our prices are at least 20 dollars higher than the US, for no reason other than "they can charge that much, so they do".
