I was willing to try pot, but then I smelled it for the first time and all interest evaporated right then and there.Moridion said:Honestly, the dumbest thing I was ever grounded for? My mom thought she smelled pot in my room and I was grounded for not sharing.
I'll just let that one sit for a while. Strangely enough for me, I still don't do drugs. I was lucky (and smart) enough to see what they did to my parents and avoid them.
That's why I hated high school and found a way out of it early. If the teacher's presence alone doesn't command respect, being an asshole won't help anything. New teachers were the worst. I was always happy when I had some veteran of the system who knew how to control the animals.GHudston said:I've never been grounded in my life, my parents treated my like a human being and as a result I never did anything worth being grounded for anyway.
The only thing I can think of that's close to being relevant to this topic would be that I spent most of my school life in detention because the teachers were too lazy to single out which students were actually misbehaving and just kept the entire class behind.
Something about how they wouldn't do it anymore after their friends got angry at them for making them have to stay late. Their friends thought it was hilarious and it just gave them all more of an excuse to do it again in the next class. Rinse and repeat basically every day for 7 years.
Right? Like 3-4 years ago my parents gave me this crap about how I should go out and do stuff, but now they're always pissed because I'm "almost never home"Betancore said:I've only been grounded once. My parents realised how futile it was after I got up at 5 AM, climbed over the fence, got on a tram and went out before they realised I'd gone.
I don't really remember what it was for. I think my parents attempted to punish me into having a life when I was 10. It worked, because I did go out, but it did seem pretty stupid and redundant. Nowadays they tell me not to go out so much. Funny how things have changed.

Same. It seems like more of a US thing. I was put in timeout a few times, but not for anything I can remember, so the reasons were probably fine.Neptunus Hirt said:I never got "grounded" as a child.
I guess there's not much culture for grounding where I live.
