I'm indecisive, and I have an ever increasing backlog of games

Ergh...

I appreciate your struggle, I really do.
I'm in the same predicament.

But all your list has done for me is add games to my ever expanding "want to buy" list, which will then convert into my similarly-insanely-long "own but haven't played properly" list...

At the suggestion of quite a few of you, I finished Limbo. Fun game, a mix of really fun puzzles, but some really frustrating ones as well. The timing puzzles tended to be the most obnoxious.

time to tally up some other suggestions and see what to try and finish next.

Out of those, I'd recommend Deus Ex, Planescape Torment and Vampire Bloodlines. Yeah, I think you can kind of deduce from that list what types of games I like.

So I tallied up votes from here and another couple forums, and I played through and beat Resident Evil 4. Very fun and challenging game. Though it didn't really feel like the old PS1 RE games at all.

I'm now just as much at a loss as when I originally started the thread.

Next do either:

Dante's Inferno because it's easy/quick/shit.

Batman Arkham City, because it's awesome. Either of those.

I have the same problem as you, I go from the start of the list and look for something interesting and then pick the first one which interests me.

Just finished Psychonauts. fun little game.

I'll have to tally up some of the stuff here and see what to play next. New recommendations are welcome.

Play Arkham City! That game rocks. I preferred it to Arkham Asylum, and I see you've already played that.

My only other strong recommendation is that you play some Killing Floor. There's no story, so you can pretty much stop playing whenever you feel like.

Simple... forget about your list and instead play a game that you can't finish. Like SimCity or Minecraft. Cause there's a serious disturbance in the force if you feel compelled to game.

Personally I would drop everything but the games you know/can find out are actually worth playing.

There are loads of games I would love to play as well, but just aren't high enough quality to warrant using what little time I have to play them. I only go for games I know are really, really good and I'm going to actually enjoy.

Like others have suggested, start with short games. Stuff like Braid, Stacking, Night Sky, or Hard Reset would be good choices. At the same time, I would also go through one of the longer, but not ridiculously long (as in not some 40+ hour RPG), games. Metroid Prime would be my personal suggestion for this, but that's just because it's one of my favorite games ever.
