I'm looking for a horror game

So, I'm hoping to get into the survival horror genre. So I was wondering what a good game to start off in this genre would be. You should know that I only have an Xbox360 and a Wii. So I can only get ahold of games for these consoles.

Wii: Dead Space: Extraction
X360: Condemned , Dead Space (although, I never understood the fuss about it to be honest), Deadly Premonition has been getting some good press and might be what you're looking for if you can appreciate David Lynch.

Condemned: Criminal Origins on Xbox 360 is a really good choice. And I've also heard good things about Amnesia.

Other than that, not sure what else there really is. Most survival horror is just action with horror elements these days.

From what I've heard, the good press Deadly Premonition has gotten is largely of the "so bad it's hilarious" variety. As in; it is not good, but highly entertaining.

As someone has already suggested, Amnesia is a very scary game. It does not make it easy for you. There are a few game series you may want to check out too, like Clock Tower or Silent Hill.

Well I hear that is terrifying.

Amnesia Dark Descent, download the demo through steam and see if you like it. I've played a good hour of it and I was screaming at my laptop. Not to over-dramatize like but it is so heavy on atmosphere you could eat it ^-^

Which are PS2 only, I think. Silent Hill certainly is.

Amnesia: The Dark Decent looks pretty good. You can get it off of steam.
I can't tell you anymore about it because I haven't played it. The computer I use for games is...really shitty...

Condemned: Criminal Origins was pretty fun. I'd recommend getting that as well.

Silent Hill 2. It will make most other horror games look like a joke.

No way SH was good but not THAT scary.
Doom3 and Fear are scary but not good.
Dead Space is bloody (how ironic) jewel! it has a pretty good story and those "I don't dare to lower my gun" moments.

What is wrong with you?!? Deadly Premonition is genius! Play it now! It's 20 bucks, it has almost a dozen different cars, unlockable weapons, and a plot that I consider better than a lot of other games these days.

On the Wii, I recommend Silent Hill Shattered Memories, it can be quite creepy and is a good game with good replay value aswell

You're kinda stuck then. About the only decent titles I can think of are Condemned: Criminal Origins and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

There's always Dead Space I suppose. But that's just an action game with occasional closet monsters. Not the least bit scary. Still kinda fun though. Same goes for F.E.A.R. 2..

If you happen to have a game-capable PC then you will want to grab a copy of Amnesia. Now that is a horror game. Guaranteed to have you shitting bricks in short order.

There was this one horror game I knew of that I can't remember the name of. I'm pretty sure it had Rose in the title and at some point the main character has a rat tied to a stick shoved in her face by one of the creepy orphanage children. I assure you it was quite scary.

As already said, Condemned (the first one) and Dead Space are worth checking out. Other that that, I can't think of too many options on the 360. Dead Space 2 is coming out though. I'm going to look into Amnesia though. I'll nab the demo off of Steam to see if I like it.
