Sorry about that, looks like I didn't make myself clear.

I meant that there is no good reason ANY diablo game, whether it be 2, 3 or 11, would require an internet connexion : it's a bloody hack&slash! Why do we need always-online ? For the auction house ? Which Blizz said "if you don't want it, don't use it" ?

I know it does require one. Yet it shouldn't.
As simple as that.

Oh wow i made this thread couple of days ago and kinda forgot about it.
What i find funny is the fact it grew so much.....mostly cause people really wanted me to know that they don't care about my opinion :).

Anyway i should probably clarify a little bit why i don't like the always on-line requirement.
It's because i really hate wasting 10 seconds every freaking time i want to play a game. I know it sounds ridiculous, and i know i sound incredibly lazy, but really that's it.

It's the sole reason why after finishing the campaign in SC2 i never touched the game, and it's the sole reason why i wont buy Diablo3.

Im a huge fan of Blizzard, ever since Warcraft 2. I own pretty much all their games (i have been a WoW addict for almost 6 years), but i just never really cared about Diablo series.
I liked them, but not enough, so a small inconvenience like this is all it takes to deter me from buying Diablo 3.

Oh and if you are wondering how come i didn't mind having to log in all those years while i was playing WoW, well it's because WoW is actually an on-line game, something that you simply can not play in single player. Diablo however.....

P.S. all you people calling me some kind of attention whole are really hilarious.
You played Warcraft for 6 years and all of a sudden hate having to wait 10 seconds???

Erm ... Sure there is. You just don't like the reasons.
Like I said before in this thread, you cannot make an argument based on distorted reality.

It's a very different game compared to Diablo 2 technically, completely different game engines run it. Diablo 3 uses WoW server client tech to facilitate Coop play, AH, game updates ... And authentication. That looks to be factual info right there. As you see, I do not deny one of the reasons Battle.Net is used is DRM, I just claim it's not the only reason.

You cannot decide game is something it is not. You want it to be offline single player? Sure. Can you just argue it actually is because you want it to be? No.

Facts are facts. Diablo 3 is not playable offline, just like WoW isn't or just like Guild Wars wasn't. Sooner you face up to that, easier it will be for you. There is no injustice. All information is available, Blizzard is not hiding facts from you as far as I see.

So make your choice. I personally find the Diablo 3 solution acceptable, while I also think Ubisoft is doing it wrong. But please don't assume I'm an irrational fanboy either, I do decisions like this on case by case basis. :)

I would have to agree with those that say it isnt a big deal.

So Diablo 3 is going more to the realm of an online game - so what? So long as they tell you that before you buy it I don't see the issue. Now, on the other hand, if they sold the game THEN told you you had to be online all the time....

However they did not, so I don't see the issue. I, for one, plan to buy it. Real money auction house, always online, and all.

It looks to be way to similar to Diablo 2 to be worth my investment, I did love Diablo 2 but that was years ago. if I want to play with friends ill play wow, If I want to play a single player RPG Ill play Skyrim.
I cant see a reason to get it at all unfortunately, normally im happy to waste money on Blizzard products but not for this one.

Wait, so you've got a solid computer, a stable connection, and you're deciding not to buy the game for...no good reason?

I smell "Me too!" jingoism...
