There better be a damn good and coherent reason Shep is being hunted by Cerberus. I am going to be seriously pissed off if it's like "Hey you know that big corporation that spent 4 billion credits bringing you back to life, and you spent all last game working for? They want to kill you now for some reason, including your current girlfriend/boyfriend Miranda/Jacob."

I'm not worried. BioWare knows what they're doing, and I'm sure the third game will be a fitting conclusion to a great story. And hey, so long as Tali's there, I'm happy.

Still confused?
Yes, because there's absolutely no logical reason to attack Earth first. I can understand being interested in the human species, but that doesn't mean they have to attack them first. The reason the previous Reaper invasions succeeded was becuase they always took control of the Citadel. The Citadel is what binds all the species of the galaxy together. Without it, they can't reach other, communicate with each other, or do anything else that would require the use of the relay system. By taking control of this, the Reapers ensure that any resistance will be disorganized and confused.

By attacking Earth there making their presence known without doing any of the above. The other species are perfectly capable of forming a retaliation now that they know the Reapers are here. Which is exactly what is happening. Let's just make a list of the effects of both plans;

Attacking the Citadel
-Disrupt communications between species
-Isolate every major system from one another
-Prevent formation of a powerful multi-species retaliation force
-Complete control of the relay network
-More information than they could ever need about each species

Attacking Earth
-Make presence known across the galaxy
-Provoke unified attack from other species
-Make other species aware of danger causing them to fortify their defenses
-Harbinger gets to satisfy his creepy human fetish

Basically, the benefit for plan A are massive compared to plan B. I just don't get why the Reapers would make such a poor decision, unless Harbinger is really stupid and letting his lust for a human Reaper cloud his judgment. But that wouldn't make him a very threatening villain.
I'd still like to know how you know they aren't also hitting the Citadel as well? And what Bioware is putting out now is just focusing on the earth part? Drawing in those not all that familiar with the franchise.

"Save earth, eh? Perhaps I should pick up the other two games to get up to speed on what all this is about!" Then these people are introduced to all the plot intricacies.

Every piece of marketing material isn't going to out the entire plot of a game. Just be patient.

Anyone else think that sparing the Rachni will cause the Collectors to create a Rachni Reaper?
Actually, I just had a thought. The Reapers apparently manipulated the Rachni into going to war against the rest of the galaxy once before... what's to say they don't do it again? I mean, it'd be a heck of a twist on good intentions;

* Hey! These were extinct! I'm good, so I can't let them go extinct again! I'll spare them!

* Hey Shep! We're rebuilding our people! We'll fight with you when the time comes!

* OH SNAP! The Reapers have taken control of the Rachni! And now we have to fight on two fronts!

It would be a good way to have consequences for good actions through the previous two games.

Also, if I have to say, I'm definitely looking forward to ME3. I've been a fan of Bioware since before I knew who Bioware was. One of the biggest influences on my gaming life was BG2, and KOTOR. I'm pretty sure I've played just about every big name Bioware game in the last ten years, but I'm ashamed to admit, that I didn't really know who they were till around ME1's time.

In all the time I've known them, they've had ups and downs. I loved ME1's story, and I loved ME2's pace. There were things that they could have done better on both parts, but overall, I think they're one of the few games developers around at the moment, that you can confidently rely upon to bring out a good and enjoyable game. Even if they bring out a bad game by their own standard, it's usually still better than most other games coming out at the time.

AS for Dragon Age, and Dragon Age 2. I have to say that I did enjoy DA2. Again, much like ME, DA:O have a much better story, but I loved the gameplay pace of DA2. Even though it was a kick in the pants that DA2 was pretty much just setting up a DA3, I still liked the story. I liked seeing the interactions between the characters, and the way the politics of a single city changed over time, not to mention the consequences of one person's actions toward the rest of the world. The only criticism that I have over the Dragon Age series, is that they seem to rush out the games too quickly, without properly testing them. Some of the glitches on DA2 were just gamebreaking, and I was one of the people that pre-ordered and got the Signature Edition. It's really not cool for people like me, and anyone else that would get a game early, only to have it nearly unplayable till a patch could be released.

Other than that, yeah, what I said before. I'm looking forward to ME3, to the story as well as the gameplay. Not to mention this if the first time the choices of your character can carry over three separate titles. That's definitely what I'm looking forward to the most, I think. That and Tali... I'm a total Talimancer... she just reminds me so much of Aerie from BG2.

I believe that 2 will be remembered as the best of the trilogy. We have seen 3's gameplay. It's basically the same. It doesn't have great changes like 2 make to the first one. It has just that melee thing.

Have we seen any powers being used in-game yet? Also, weapons are much more customizable than ME1&2, not to mention that the difficulty is supposed to be higher than the previous two games. For all we know, the combat in ME3 could be far more intense than ME1&2 combined. Then again, for all we know, it could be about as fun as watching mould grow on a soapy sponge.

I'm leaning toward the interesting side, seeing as you can hijack huge mechs in ME3... sounds so fun...

Thank you Mr. Zappa! Biotics with Assault Rifles looks pretty sweet, though I didn't see any tech powers... either way, looked pretty solid. Looked like the enemies won't just be sitting in cover and waiting for you to pick them off any more either, so it looks like combat won't be mini wars of attrition any more.

Also, your username made me want to listen to Kashmir. *Makes it so*

I'm worried about it. Look how Bioware screwed up with Dragon Age 2: Made the game all take place in the same tiny city, and the game's structure was a terrible mess, with incoherent motivations and plot points. I hope, HOPE, for the love of God, that they don't do the same for Mass Effect 3.
Because I love Mass Effect.

I don't think they'd be able to pull that one off. I mean, the whole point of ME3, is the bring the disarrayed peoples of the galaxy together to fight off the Reapers. I think they'd be asking for every single one of their loyal fans, and also people that aren't their loyal fans, so completely boycott any further products of theirs, if they tried to base the entire game in one location. At the very least, you'd be able to go to the home worlds of all the major species in the ME universe. Add to that any little side missions, recruitment missions, etc, I'm sure there will be plenty of places to visit.

Also, the team that made Dragon Age, and the team that makes Mass Effect, are totally different, so I'm sure their approach will be somewhat along the same lines as what we've seen in ME so far.

I can't possibly worry about this game. Haven't managed to get to part 2 yet due to my gaming backlog.

But the reason I don't worry is simple. If the game isn't good (by my standards) then I simply won't play through all of it.

It's just a theory, I haven't the slightest clue. For all we know, saving them could be the deciding factor in the fight to saving the galaxy (Probably not though).

I just thought it'd be a cool twist if they ended up turning on you. Heck, for all we know, it could be just that, if you spared the Rachni, the Krogan won't join you, but if you killed them, the Krogan would join instead.

Before I start, there are some spoilers about the beggining of the Game here.
Most of you will of already heard it some where but I will spoiler-tag them, but you may want to read it all for your selves. So if you don't want spoilers, then don't click on the massive "spoiler" in the box. Obviously :)

OK! I was reading my Local XBOX Magazine, and I came across this little article on the up-coming Mass Effect 3:

[spoiler/]
In his effort to save the galaxy from the next reaper invasion, Commander Shepard tends to rub the wrong people in the wrong way. But as the first human Spectre who can essentially operate outside the galactic laws laid down by the Citadel, this isn't usually much of a problem. However, according to the first details of Mass Effect 3 released by BioWare, he's made a particulary powerful and resourceful enemy in the form of the highly secretive agency Cerberus. Having worked directly with the head of Cerberus, a Human known only as The Illusive Man, Shepard is now on the run with a Cerberus bounty on his head.

Mass Effect 3 opens with Shepard being put on trial on earth for his part in breaking the deep cover operative Dr Amanda Kenson out of prison in the Arrival DLC for Mass Effect 2. Halfway through the trial, the Reapers invade and Shepard must flee to the Normandy for the Prologue, before begginning another recruitment drive that'll include some familiar faces. Confirmed squad-mates are Liara, Ashley or Kaiden, and Garrus, if he survived the final onslaught in Mass Effect 2. Other former Normandy Crew members to make a appearance (as long as they survived ME2) but not necessarily jumping aboard are: Wrex, Legion, Anderson and Mordin.

Other details that have surfaced include a bigger skill tree with powers that can evolve several times, more customisable weapons and armour, and also, a range of Good and Bad endings for Mass Effect 3- made more significant by the fact that this is the last game in the series, though of serveral spin-offs including a Mass Effect Shooter are sticking...

Also Included as notes in the margin:
*The reapers can finnally be defeated in ME3, though that's not a guaranteed conclusion.
*Combat will be harder than in the previous games and will include a bigger focus on Melee.
*Did you spare the Rachni? Then Mass Effect 3 is where you'll feel the repercussion of that choice.

[/spoiler]

For those of you who don't want anything spoiled, here is what I put in a nuttshell:

*The Return of Former Crew members.
*A much Bigger Skill tree than in the previous games.
*Good and Bad endings to the game.
*More customisable weapons and armour (Mods are making a come back).
*Tougher Combat.
*Repercussions of former actions.

Many people have doubted this game, and, to be fair, so did I at first. I know I shouldn't get hyped up (Lionhead have already taught me that lesson *looks at Fable III collecting dust on the shelf*) But BioWare do not like to let down their fans.
DA2 one of their weaker games, but most of their games are of top quality, and someone already told me that DA2 was made by a different team of designers within BioWare.

Right. The game could be aweful. It could just be a massive middle finger in the centre of the screen. But look at all of BioWare's previous games, and tell me that you 100% believe it will be bad. They seem to be putting in all of good things that made Mass Effect 1 & 2 good, and improving on it. You can't say from the info they've given you that it doesn't have RPG elements. So I'm looking foward to this game, and you'll be a fool not to in my opinion.
FINALLY someone who's not jumping on the EAWARE RUINED IT 4EVAAARRRR!!!! band wagon

i'm not worried either, in fact, i think this last entry shall be the strongest by far!

I'm not worried either.

Everything I have seen or heard in relation to ME3 has made me happy.

The constant bitching has gotten annoying though.

I'm looking forward to it. I need conclusion. Even if it was the worst game BioWare ever released I'd buy it simply for conclusion.
