i'm PISSED.

a large group of my friends went to one of my close friend's house. a lot of them left when some of them started drinking. im proud of them for leaving, but then there are 4 of my best friends drinking beer. they are all 13-14. i wasn't at that party, and i feel like i dodged a bullet. but i feel like punching all of them in the fucking nuts. i'm mostly pissed at the one the house belonged to for letting this happen. so, escapist, how do i take this out? what do i do? i can kick two of them in the ass, but the other two would probably piss on my grave.

I'm not sure, you can't beat two of them up then leave the others alone (plus violence only brings MOAR violence).

Funnily enough, this thread title is probably about all they have to say, too. But in a very different way.

I'd just leave them to make their own mistakes, buddy. Sad as it is, you can't control them, and I learnt hard and fast that they'll resent you for it if you try.

Growing what is colloquially referred to as 'a pair' might help. They anchor you, negating the tendency to drift towards the moral high-ground. You were not forced to imbibe alcohol, and you don't control these people.

Nah, at that age they're totally exaggerating the effects because of cartoon representations and stuff. One .33 l of beer won't get you drunk.

You're just making that out to be a bigger problem than it really is.

Yes, they drank underage, that's definitely bad but that fact obviously doesn't matter now. If you are afraid they will get caught in the future, then tell them your two cents.

But the act of getting drunk in itself isn't all that bad really. Being a little bit buzzed or just on the verge of puking in the toilet is not pleasant yes, but not the worst thing that could happen either. You drink responsibly (not overdoing it, knowing your limit) then you avoid actual health trouble.

Underage kids get drunk all the time, it isn't such a gigantic deal. If you really want to do something, don't be a hotheaded idiot and fight them, and instead have your other friends who didn't drink try to convince them otherwise.
If they insist on drinking, exclude them or something.

They drank beer, and what of it? They're teenagers. It's not like they got trashed on coke and beat up a hobo. Beer isn't going to do much. Once you reach the age that doing that could be considered your fault, you've reached the age in which it doesn't really matter.

Though I come from a country where the legal drinking age is 5, so many, unlike you, I'm.... sane.

You want, you can explain to them why you don't want to join in/wouldn't ever drink but trying to force them to your way will end your friendship. These are your friends and peers, not your children or employees.

Edit: Maintaining relationships with people has alot to do with compromise, for good and bad.
