As some one who has clocked 497 hours on the good ol' tf2 i know what you mean.I was in your boat at one point at one timie I was the one getting called n00b and to gtfo, but as some one who has clocked 497,(if i knew how to post pics id screan cap it to prove it) Their is nothing more annoying than people that only play one class even and refuse to chagne when they fail at it
I'm not saying you suck i haven't played with you but i gladly would.

but if your not having a good run change class go medic go engineer hell even heavys are useful to play as piont gun at me and fire dont realy need to aim

and i have had bad days as well

eg 2fort

playing sniper
walk out of spawn back stabbed by a spy
respawn drop down hole in spawn right in the parth of a pyro
respawn
run out of the other spawn right in to heavy/medic team
change class respawn
as heavy walk out with brass beast, heavy/medic team now have uber charge
change calss respawn
as spy with dead ringer run past havey/medic team using the D.Rs ability drop of the battlements pyro with intell fries me

it happens to the best of us

TL:DR
dont give up as every one has shity days/weeks.

If you need to vent go to one of the many trade servers most people use them as a way to see who can get the biggest kill count.

It's sad that you hate it, but kudos for not blaming hats on it. God, that pisses me off. Unlockable weapons that are impossible to balance against: Yes, bad idea. Hats: No, a good idea.

Not hugely relevant, but print screen button, go to ms paint, ctrl v, save the file, go to an image host site like imageshack, upload the file, get the URL of the picture, copy it into a post on this site, surround the url with
.

Or in this case you can just link your steam profile like so:

#4 did it for me. Look your new at this game, obviously if you think spys are "cheaters". Get trained, they do have that now. Or if you can't be bothered with that, stop complaining.

I really, honestly can't say I've prioritised a spy on the enemy team as a threat to winning in all my time, it's always that comp demo/soldier that just seems not to die, the demo that kills people in two stickies, the soldier that airshots you from 100ft, juggles 2 pyros with the other two rockets then gets three kills with the shotgun. Yeah, that bastard.

Try playing in the ubercharged.net server against a demoman called "Axon" and you'll get what I mean, the ****'s unkillable.

Unless you're too much of a ninja for me to notice you.
A good (normally Dead Ringer) spy can seriously ruin a team's day. Talk about unkillable. Metal speeds up their cloak recharge which also pretty much makes them immortal. It's awful if you don't have an air blast pyro to corner them. Overall I'd say Spy has one of the largest learning curves to be really effective, but once you do get good at hiding, oh boy. Half a team can be backstabbed and the sentry sapped before the rest know what happened.

But yeah, the explosive "juggling" classes, they can be seriously awful. Incidentally, soldier is my favorite :3 If I have a medic or health pickup nearby, good luck getting through that door/courtyard/anything.

I'd have to disagree. Even the weapons stay fairly balanced and don't screw things up all that much. Plus it keeps things different and allows for more crafting of strategies. I've yet to run into any weapon that completely destroys the balance. It's all a matter of knowing how to counter something. The hats aren't bad...so much as ridiculous and unnecessary. But considering you have the option to not use em it's fine.

Are you playing on a wireless laptop? If you are then you're being booted for having a massive ping, you aren't getting backstabs because you have a massive ping and you aren't winning because you have a massive ping.

If you're playing on a wired laptop then I suggest keep playing and then quit, it's not as if you paid for it.

Also I love how every time there's a TF2 bashing thread on the escapist everyone jumps in for the scrimmage.
From my experience, those who complain about hating TF2 are people going into the game expecting instant gratification.

@ OP: So far everyone has said what you need to know as far as what to do so I wont add. On a side note, haven't you made a thread in the past regarding the same, or similar, issues? Not accusing you of anything, I could be wrong.
not that i know of.

Currently; Yes, but ever? No, pre-nerf tomislav, pre-nerf natascha (pray noone was cheesy enough to use it) pre-nerf FaN and pre-nerf Cow-Mangler were utterly ridiculous.

Also: +50HP backburners

Game's in a decently balanced state as of this moment, there are no "Noobtube" weapons.

2. if i do get connected, i get booted about 2 to 3 minutes in because im not "teh hardcore" despite the fact that ive played for about 20 hours or i get dogpiled by the enemy

3. ive never won a game i stayed in, and guess who the blame goes to?

4. spy=cheater. seriously, ive been up against the wall and i get backstabbed. and when i try to disguise myself and backstab? knife never goes up to imply that i can backstab when im RIGHT ON THEIR BACK!!! then i get killed

and dont even put up that "it gets better" poster, cause it dosent
Look up "Gravedigger Company"

Fun server, lots of laughs on that server. It's not about being hardcore, its about talking and just killing loads of people, also a bit of micspam and shenanagins. It's just for fun. Its a no-cap server to, so even though it's Capture the Flag, the cap limit is something like 58998839484

In which case what I said was actually a joke and I feel insulted that you didn't grasp that upon inspection.

But seriously, keep giving the game a go, play all the classes till you find one that you enjoy, try different maps and modes and keep playing until you get better. It's one of those games where you have to learn all the different strategies and tricks before you can really be much competition, that's all I've picked up from the short amount of time I've spent playing it.

That's just part of the process. I don't expect it to always be balanced, as often it will take a good look at the metrics post-weapon release to realize that it needs balance. If they hadn't fixed it...then yea, I could see being up at arms, but it's fine for now.

This is what it all boils down to in some servers

You just have to find a class you like and can work with well, like for example,I suck as a demoman, but I'm pretty damn good as a medic, engineer, heavy,or pyro!
Just do what I do and play CTF,usually no noobs there because the thing says that the mode is for more advanced players only, therefore it should be easier to be awesome there. Oh and get some chocolate if you're planning on being a Heavy, that shit be magic healing food made from God's tears.

Seems to be lag issues, but who knows. Have patience with it. Here's a comic to cheer you up.
http://www.nerfnow.com/comic/438
That comic is basically 100% how I feel about it. It's like that when you start. But eventually, I started to get the hang of it, and it's a LOT of fun now. Spies only rarely get me because they seem so obvious now, no one eeever really ragged on me when I started, and I'm just getting plain better. TF2 is sooo much different from most other games you'll play involving shooting that it takes time to adjust for many. It really is great though.
There needs to be about 500 million panels between the top and the bottom there.

Stay clear of the 'hardcore' servers. They suck.

Look for some beginner / noob servers and play on those. Also try out each class till you find the ones right for you.

Search for fragmasters uk newbie servers, those are pretty good for learning your class.

People will tell you to evade insta respawn servers but I find for new players who want to spend time learning their class / not staring at a respawn timer they're a must.

Stop using the matchmaking crap they added and just manually browse for servers. You'll find much better games that way.

20 hours is nothing. It really isn't. If you get booted, then the people on that server aren't very nice people. And TF2 isn't a "hardcore" game, not by far. It's pretty dang casual.

RaikuFA said:
3. ive never won a game i stayed in, and guess who the blame goes to?
Then the people you're playing with are just bad people, and you should join different servers.

RaikuFA said:

It's a glitch known as "facestabbing". It's when the Spy appears to be attacking an enemy from the front on both players' screens, but lag compensation results in it being registered as a backstab. Also, you're probably not doing the timing correctly. Just keep practicing.

RaikuFA said:

Yes it does. As stated above, 20 hours is nothing. Just keep practicing and you'll get better at the game, which in turn will cause the game to get better.

Remember, don't get discouraged!

1. I have never had that happen. Occasionally there are servers with reserved spots.
2. I have only had that happen a handful of times, and most of that is a full server where I was the newest one to enter and the owner of the server had a buddy he wanted to play. I have never seen it for poor gameplay.
3. I have won countless games
4. Against a good team, spies for the most part are just a nuisance. Sure, you have to be fairly paranoid so they are really annoying. Yet I have only played against a handful of really good spies. With a good spy checker (pyro) and attentive engineers who know how to guard their buildings correctly, Spies are in no way cheating. If anything, it's one less effective member on the other side. What I hate is being on a team that has 3 Spies. 2 is pushing it already, and should only be used against a team that loves to load up on heavy/medic combos or sentry guns.

BTW...Spy is by far the toughest class to master. You have to know the maps inside and out, and you have to understand how other players detect you. In order to learn that, it's better playing other classes and Spy check. I would suggest avoiding the Spy until you master some of the other classes.

I suggest most people start out as Medic. Even if you are bad you are helpful. You also get to observe a lot while helping out your team. It does take time to get to be a really good Medic, but virtually no time in order to help out your team.
