i simply just don't like FPS's, got bored of them about the time quake 2 came out.
they are more or less all the same, they just look a little differant and maybe the game mechanics are a tweaked a little. But the base of the gameplay is running around shotting things... yipee! no thanks, been there done that, bored to tears with it.

edit: sorry not about the time Quake 2 came out, i did play the original Half life and that's really the last FPS i enjoyed.

I liked halo 1-2. Never played 3, never had access to a 360. Perfectly adequate FPS game. I never got the haters or the fanboys. Infact, the fanboys bugged me, because they sullied the reputation of a perfectly alright game by trying to elevate it beyond what it was, which was 'pretty good'.

TC, I'm going to have to agree with you. I mean, I'll be honest with you all.
I. Hate. Playing. Halo.
That said, I respect the Halo franchise and I'm rather fond of the storyline. I bought the first two and played them and thoroughly enjoyed the campaign mode. Not having a 360 I only played the campaign in Halo 3 co-op style and loved the 'ending' to the series.
With that out of the way, I just honestly have no interest in ever playing them again. Multiplayer is boring to me. I used to be half decent (considered even to be 'good' by some) but after losing interest in playing and keeping my skills polished I now suck by anyone's definition which has furthered my disinterest in playing them. This is of course in addition to my general disdain (or perhaps just distaste) of FPS games all around (with the shining glimmering exception of TF2 which I can't get enough of).
But with all this fallen fanboyish whining about this series (and most prominently the third installment) I've actually began to DEFEND this game that I don't particularly care for anymore.
It vaguely reminds me of the history of Christianity (after the whole being fed to lions bit anyway). It was widely popular and even whole empires and countries were founded on its beliefs and customs and today thirteen year old boys listening to linkin park with nothing else better to do sit and whine among their friends about it whilst cutting themselves/each other.

I dont dislike it because its unrealistic.

The first Halo was awesome. After that they started to suck. Unfuffiled promises from Bungee and just all around shittier story and gameplay turned it into a bad game.

The Halo Community is pretty bad, and that ruins the game for me. Just like Counter-Strike. TF2 doesn't really have a bad comunity. I have only met one guy that bitched constantly on TF2, unlike a lot of Counter-Strike and Halo.

I think the only thing that gets on my nerves about halo is how some of the people that play it fanatically annoy me. I remember seeing a post talking about Halo ODST and some guy actually claimed that Halo was the best game ever because it invented the FPS genre. I nearly fell out of my chair when I read this. Fanboys for every game annoy me but for some reason halo seems to have the most vocal fanboy base. That could also be due to them having a more vocal hater base as well. Both sides need to STFU and let people do whatever they want.

This is one of my own gripes as well. It's not so much the game itself that most people can't stand, it's the bloody players/fans of it. Most likely I think that a large amount of the more vocal hecklers of this series are players that recently picked the game up starting with number three (and I can personally attest that this game makes NO sense unless you've at least played the first two installments) and after beating the campaign on normal mode subsequently tried online multi-player in which they got their rear ends handed to them in neatly gift wrapped little baggies.

"Bungie's masterpiece".

Look I see where you're coming from, but I'm getting bored of seeing threads like this where you say you're bored of people disliking a game and then go on to describe it as a great game, therefore destroying all of your credibility. You're saying you're bored of it because you disagree with them.

You should be bored of it because no one gives a crap who does like Halo and who doesn't.

You're doing exactly the same thing but in reverse positions (i.e. you likey not hatey).
well i mean, bungie doesn't really have aynthing else to compare to halo, right? so yeah, it's their masterpiece. their piece de resistance. their magnum opus, so to speak.

if you'll kindly read the rest of the post, you'll see that i put NOT my favorite game. in big bold letters. verily.

annnnnnd yeah, it's obviously a great game. there's the whole 'halo 3 has sold 8.1 million copies as of January 3, 2009' thing to prove it, you don't need to hear it from me.
Games are mostly bought before they're played.
true? yes? so you see my point then; it wouldnt be a good game if people weren't eating it up.

with the obvious exception of the madden games.

No, I'm saying sales figures aren't conclusive evidence.

Jesus Christ.. what the fuck man, MH are on Roadrunner, the biggest metal label out there and they can't make a better video than that?

That was truly appaling... like something a local thrash band would have made in 1992. In a shed. With thier drunk mates.

I hate it when they chop down metal songs for videos too, it kills the dynamics of the song.

Still a kick ass album though... 'Wolves' is a stormer.
Exactly, seriously what the fuck were the band on when they made this video. Not only is it stupid but it looks so cheap too

ALso I completely agree, have you heard Bullet for My Valentines album version then video version of waking the demon? They also did the same with tears don't fall

Yeah wolves is a good mosh song but I personally prefer slanderous because of the guitar intro. You should see them live, they are amazing. Btw we've derailed another thread haven't we?
Yes we have.. oh well...

Never saw em live and I've been a fan since the Burn my Eyes days, that was one hell of a debut album. Love the intro to Slanderous too.

Unfortunately we don't get that many big metal gigs in Ireland, saw Slayer and metallica this year, both awesome. Machine Head were meant to be on at Metallica but they refused to play because they were put on before Avenged Sevenfold.

Too be honest I think you didn't even read the thread and only the title. So what are you saying? Are you tired of these threads? Then say so. You're reply is very vague. I swear every halo thread has one of these.

You've seen Metallica live? Damn I'm jealous

Wait what? Machine refused to play because they were before Avenged Sevenfold? How the funk does that work

I always felt for some reason that the intro of slanderous should be played with a top hat on. No idea why

Take it from me, they are amazing to see live, if they ever do come to Ireland then see them. You won't regret it

I definately will :)

As for Avenged Sevenfold being higher on the bill than the others (including Alice in Chains and Mastodon)... well I guess the mass exodus from the stage when they started spoke for itself.
