London with a 1920s feel.
I want to know what happened in Europe.
But Fallout is about America.
No, its about the cold-war and the consequences of it. We have only seen it from the point of view of America at this point. A bit about China too.
There where still consequences other places. I want to see them.

I wouldn't have Bethesda touch Fallout anymore. Aren't Obsidian taking over for the next game - New Vagas I believe?
Seeing as Obsidian did a semi-good job with Knights of the Old Republic: Sith Lords. Well, whatever happens, I'm not buying it.

Was Bethesda going to make that, though? Seems to me I heard that the original Fallout company (whose name I have shamelessly forgotten now) was doing FO:NV.

I have it on good authority the new fallout will take place after a catastrophic nuclear war.
I like Bethesda, and I don't know why everyone hates them for Fo3. I never played any of the other Fallouts, but I personally liked Fo3. I would like to see better animation, more voice acting.
Also, maybe the ability to actually design new weapons (I know you could find schematics in Fo3, but I mean actually design them yourself), and a way to continue on after the story ends. That was one of my only complaints about Fo3.

I would like to see;
The ablity to buy a shack rather than just having a house depending on your kama
Weapon jams that felt like jams (say, a light, easily fixed jam for weapons over 50 percent and a farcry 2 syle jam for those below
Weapon mods(silencer ect..)
Named weapons look different I.e the um flame chinise pistol should have a differnt model.
The city (D.C, vegas ect) should be acessable without going through the BLOODY METRO.
Different endings. Yes yes the endings of fallout 3 where kind off different, but they all had the same basic structure ( blow up the purifier, fix it, send somone else to fix it.)
Iron sights.
Radio stations that don't say the same thing every damn time.
I'll stop here before I start ranting.

Black Isle Studios is out of business. Interplay shut them down and most of the team moved to either Troika (also defunct) or Obsidian Entertainment. You'll be happy to hear that Obsidian Entertainment, which is most of the original Fallout crew, is making Fallout: New Vegas.

This is sort of the basic notion that giving it back to Interplay won't exactly result in anything good. The PEOPLE that made it good no longer work there. Interplay is just a name, names don't create quality, people do.

I guess that's what I was thinking of.

Anyway, that's good to hear. It'll be a throwback to the "good ol Fallout" that the nostalgia fans crave, while hopefully taking at least some new tricks from Bethesda's Fallout 3. (Which I thoroughly enjoy)

How about giving Fallout back it's dirty balls that have been cut off in the 3rd game.

Idea number 1: Not made by Bethesda.

This is win.

Idea 2, make it done by Interplay.
Wow, people who actually agree with me. We're pretty scarce on these boards, or the internet, for that matter.

I really wanted the next fallout to be in pittsburgh but that got trashed by dlc so the whole las vegas thing sounds cool. I am however having a hard time picturing post apocalyptic desert.

Can fallout 4 be good? Can it be by a different company? If bethesda is making it, it's gonna be equally bad as 3. If bethesda let's someone else make it then it might stand a chance of actually being good.

o rly!
sorry couldn't resist anyway why do all fallout fanboys hate fallout 3 and bethesda?
fallout 3 was a really good game and it captured the feel of post nuclear apocalyptic wasteland really well.
anyway new vegas isn't being made by bethesda
Because they took the game and made it into something it's not, it's an FPS. It didn't capture the feel at all, they have robots, they have a reliable source of food enough to feed cities without any visible agriculture or food sources.

The choice system is very simple, the customisability is empty, even with all the sliding customisation bars, you can't make a mentally retarded brute who can't speak by giving him 1 intelligence, and you can't give your character a back-story seeing as you play it out in that dull mess known as childhood.

If they'd renamed it and every other thing in the game and called it "Futureblivion" then I would accept it as a good game, but it doesn't deserve to be a part of the Fallout franchise, or it could have at least not put the number on the end. that number means it's officially a direct sequel, rather than a spin-off like Tactics.

I understand that Bethesda was trying to appeal to a mass audience, and a lot of people enjoy it, but by doing that they took out a lot of the depth and complexity that Fallout was MEANT to be, and giving us a shallow FPS with the illusion of choice.

Fallout 4? Bring back Chris Avellone and make it all good again.

/End Fanboy Rant

(Oh, and flame away, I realize that this was a biased and fan-boyish comment, but dammit, I think I'm entitled to it after playing through that game thoroughly just so nobody can say I didn't give it a chance)

Oh yeah you're right in the Fallout games the rest of the world just suddenly vanished and you just had America floating around in space, i think London would be great because there are loads of landmarks and it would be the next target after the USA, the problem with setting it in the 20's would be that nukes hadn't been invented.
One last thing, why all the hate for Fallout 3, i just bought it last week and it was an amazing game, really top notch!

Getting chased by giant mutated reindeer's would've been awesome.
