Immersion is when you're stuck in a dungeon in Zelda and you start to hyperventilate, because you think you can't get out.

... Well, fuck what I was going to say.

Immersion is feeling like you are actually in the situation instead of playing a game.

Do you feel like a real soldier in a real war when little kids are screaming into your ear about noob tubers and hax0rz?

Didn't think so.

Immersion is when stay up WAY too late playing online FPSs, and then freak out when I see people around without Gamertags or PSN IDs over their heads and are convinced that they're my enemies and are here to kill me.
Or maybe a better word is delirium.
Yeah... sleep deprivation, in combination with a gaming overdose, is a powerful hallucinogenic.

Immersian is waiting for the nuclear apocalypse so I can jump in a vat of FEV and become a super mutant. A nice one, like Fawkes, only without a wierdly spelt name

Side effects may include:
- Getting lost while driving and trying to open your map screen
- Trying to glitch through actual walls
- Reaching for the knife button when somebody jumps from around a corner and scares you
- Thinking you have grown to twice your normal size when you eat a mushroom
- Trying to cure injuries with massive amounts of orange juice
- Attempting to double-jump
If left untreated, symptoms could get worse, so call your doctor.

Immersion is when you talk about a situation in a game in first person:

"So I ended up being chased by dark Yojimbo in the cavern of the stolen fayth..."

And when you picture places in your head in pre-rendered background static camera mode.

Immersion is looking at a wall after playing Prince of Persia or Assassin's Creed, and wondering how well running up it would work out, where you could grip, etc.

Is when you run everywhere, always, you must get there faster. Who invented walking, its too slow, I only ever walk when I am turning away from explosions, or trying to remain undercover. Ah can't sprint any longer, I must reduce pace to a brisk run and wait the 10 seconds to recover my breath before I can sprint again, I must get there faster.

Whats this? Some boxes? I must smash them and gather their contents, perhaps the local shops will be interested in the wares I have found. Ah this door is open, I must explore. If the door is locked I must find the key, it is bound to be somewhere and I bet it has good loot behind it.

After playing Assassin's Creed, every time I would walk by a building, I would quickly figure out in my head how Altair would climb it.
That's so me, except with Ezio and AC 2.

Immersion is when I get hurt and think of using a stimpak before any other form of medical treatment.

Whenever I drive past a silo, a radio tower, a satellite dish, or even a gas pump, I feel a burning need to toss a grenade at it. (Just Cause 2)

in a related... thing, when my sister was 5 she asked me how to double-jump while we were at the park
Immersion is when you start mentally lining up headshots and prioritizing them during an ordinary day-- that or planning a school/office massacre.

games bleeding into the real world only happened when I played FF8 all day, and kept expecting the screen to fade to black and load the next scene whenever I turned a corner. Playing it every day to 4am before getting up 3 hours later for school does weird things to your head.

When you catch yourself planning multiple escape routes from any building you happen to be in just in case the zombie apocalypse happens right then. Actually, that's not immersion that's just paranoia. never mind.
Wait, there's a difference?

In rare instances, severe cases may result in the patient cutting down all of the bushes in an area "because there might have been coins in them," attempting to carry hundreds of pounds of equipment and weapons without any sort of bag/pack, and attempting to kill everything that moves.

When I'm talking to someone who is not making me happy, I wish I could shove them out the window like that one guy from Mass Effect 2........................................................................................................
