Suppose that the mad scientists working in their labs one day stumble across the elixer of eternal life. Its easy to mass produce, and drinking it will make you BIOLOGICALLY immortal. This means you won't age or die from disease, but if you get cleaved in the head with an axe, you're pretty much gone. Think elf immortality.

There's a problem however. If everyone is immortal, and having kids who are also immortal, who will also have kids that are immortal, we're gonna run out of room pretty damn fast. So, the catch is that you have to get a vasectomy if you're a man or your tubes tied if you're a woman and be completely unable to have children for the rest of your ungodly lifespan.

Would you take the offer? Would you take it if it instead came not just at the cost of being able to have children, but at the cost of never having sex again?
No sex is a tougher question. But, since my path in life already involves circumstances that will render me infertile anyway, the first question is a no-brainer.
I mean, what's it gonna mean to me, when I'm already in that situation? Being immortal isn't 'costing' me anything in that case.

As for being unable to have sex, that really depends on if I would still have the urge to have sex or not.
Having the urge, but not the capability is a form of mental torture.
Not having the urge to have sex at all though? Eh. No big loss.

Is this one of those things where I have to decide right now or do I have time to choose?
Because if I have time, can't I wait say 5(ish) years for when I do have kids, then become Immortal.

Immortality is not good.
When you age, your perception of time speeds up. A child will live through a year and feel like it was ten. The same child will become a teenager and feel months go by in days. That same teenager with become an adult and feel as if years go by in hours. That same adult will become older and lose most sense of time. When the old person is living forever, centuries feel like seconds and they become insane.
My answer? Hell no.

Sure.

Curiousity outweighs sex in my life. Longer to live, longer to learn, getting to witness more than would otherwise be possible...sounds better than a few more decades of orgasms and then an ugly physical and mental decline.

Life is good, with or without sex...makes the choice easy.

Nope. I have no desire to live forever. The longer your live, the faster the world around you is perceived, until eventually you would blink and miss decades.

Fuck that.

Yes. To both scenarios. I can't imagine anything more exciting than experiencing the future that way. Seems like a fair trade. As long as my perception of time doesn't fuck up to the point other peoples lives seem to pass in minutes....Yeah.

Im gay so sterility is meaningless id take it. Not haveing sex ever though? that would defeat the purpose of being eternally young (not aging) i wouldnt take it if it meant no sex

To hell with that I hate society and 90% of people in the world that I've met enough already. Spending an eternity with them? No way.

Yes, assuming it's just a vasectomy not castration and I can still physically have sex. Why? Because immortality would rock and vasectomies even now can be reverse (though it's chances of success vary) and in the future cloning may become a viable source of producing offspring if I want or even just using sperm removed from my testes and inserted IVF.

Immortality for sterility, most likely, but no sex is asking too much. What's the point if you can't get laid once in a while?
