Got The Orange Box on impulse. Haven't played through any of the Half Lifes but have played quite a bit of TF2. Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase.

I also bought Starcraft on impulse. Naturally, it was a good game which brought back memores but when I decided to make the switch from Windows XP to 7 it all went to shit. Damn you Microsoft and your stupid compatibility problems...

For the snes and nes, I would impulse buy many different games. For the PS1, I stuck to rpgs and things that just looked plain interesting. I would even hunt a game for a year or two based on impulse (like Valkyrie Profile) without looking into if it was good or not.

These days it all fades into grey. I impulse buy some, some I buy when someone tells me how great it is, and some I buy off of hype. I can't trust reviews online anymore because people always look for things to hate, even if they are okay.

But there was one game I impulse bought that I regret... Ready? Shadow Madness. It puts a black hole on my book shelf.

Tony Hawk's Project 8. I had enjoyed Underground 1 & 2 but this sucked. The story ended right at the good part which completely ruined it for me, plus the maps sucked.
A story ruined a Skateboarding game?
It was more like the straw that broke the camels back, the gameplay wasn't as good and some of the missions were impossible without cheats. And then when it seemed like the game was just getting started it ended.

All of my steam games.
But I never spent more than $10, so I'm OK.

Odin Sphere. I knew of the game, but at the same time knew nothing. I haven't opened it yet because it's backlogged behind every other PS2 game I own.

God of war for me. I picked it up on a whim because I like Greek mythology. Best whim ever. It is the game (and it's sequel) I have completed the most times.

I bought Fallout 3 on impulse without knowing much about it. I didn't even know it was set in a Post-Apocalyptic Washington D.C. before I looked at the back of the box.

I've heard of it, seen it played. It's pretty neat, give it a go.

Impulse buy...? I've never had the money to spare to do that...WAIT! There was one. Prince of Persia: Fallen King for the Nintendo DS. Best. Side-Scroller. Ever. The one bad thing is the fact that I was forced to kill a said amount of enemies on both sides of me and they guard normal attacks. Then I traded it in, got Disgaea and returned that. Seriously...I need to REALLY look into my games even more than I already do.

I feel your pain. I was only 10 when I bought it. Who knew it was a worse version of pictochat that no one in the world owns.

Another impulse buy of mine was Valhalla Knights for the PSP. And that game was horrible even though IGN spent five months making it seem like the next coming of Jesus. And the best part? They did the same thing for the second game while not acknowledging the 5-6 score they gave the first and then gave the second a 4.0 score. My trust in IGN fell so much I haven't visited that site ever again

Most of my games library, to be honest.

Mass Effect, Oblivion, Lego Star Wars/Indiana Jones/Batman, Armored Core 4, Bioshock, and many more.

Out of that little list there, only Armored Core has let me down. It's a little too techy to get right into...

Lessee, not really, except for an old Activision Atari anthology.
Usually, I don't get much money to blow, so I tend to plan out any purchases, then get screwed by the store saying "We're out of stock, we're sorry..." AFTER I check the specific store for availability, making sure it is in stock.

Grandia. PS1.

I had never even heard of the game until I saw it in the shop. It remains my favorite to this day!

Serious? I thought Underground 2 was the worst of all of them. I beat the story is about 45 minutes.

OT: Penumbra collection, Evil Genius, Prey, and Red Orchestra because they were on sale on Steam. Curse you Steam! Then again, I did get Prey before it sold out. :p
