Alpha Protocol on Steam, for one of their 80% off sales.
Best purchase I've made in a long, long time. The polish of the game engine would have made for a sad full-price buy, but I was extremely happy with what I got story-wise; especially for $7.50 or so.
My last impulse buy was all three Sly Cooper games. I saw them sitting there in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart with a bunch of shitty games based off of Nickleodeon tv shows and I knew I had to save them.
I was originally only going to buy Fifa 12, but I saw Child Of Eden was out and only £20, it had picked up some decent reviews so I thought "why not?" Didn't regret it, one of the most interesting games I have ever played.
Most, if not all of my gaming purchases are made on impulse. The latest one was the PS3 Prince of Persia for about £4.
I'm also waiting on the collector's edition of Sonic Generations, and the Ultimate edition of the MGS collection, even though I can barely afford either.
Some Lord of the Rings-strategy game. There was a 2 in the name.
Liked the movies, cost 10 bucks, was fun. Watching tons of elven archers decimate the charging ork hordes and using Gandalf and your other heroes to blow the remaining stragglers to bits was really satisfying
Oblivion was on Steam cheap and I'd lost my old copy, soooo...
My brother has more disposable income than I do, so he often buys ANYTHING that's new on Steam on impulse. Or anything new at all. He doesn't do research.
