Dude what are you talking about I love that song.

I would like to point out on behalf of all the poor victimized pop artists in this thread that just because you don't like it doesn't make it bad.
Disregarding the generic, overdone (and to a much better extent at that) musical content, the lyrical content is akin to punching yourself in the face with a particularly degrading fist. I don't understand how anyone could want to listen to a piece of music that glorifies such idiocy.

But that's just me I guess.
But don't you see? That's the brilliant part! It's not glorifying it at all. Quite the opposite, in fact.

This. Just this.

I can tolerate just about anything, but this is too far.
Oh god... that. That little riff at the start isn't bad, but the vocals are utter shite. It's possibly worse than BrokenCYDE.
Before you judge Burzum, his other stuff is better, like Dunkelheit. :p

Lamb Of God.
Really? I can't think of many people I know who dislike LoG. (Besides those that just don't like metal, obviously.) Any reason in particular?

On Topic: I wish to nominate more-or-less the entirety of modern pop music.
Lamb Of God is just bad metak. Annoying commercialised band that is typically bad and rather harmful to any genre.

And oh look typical metalhead bashing pop music, when Lamb of God acctually has the exact same song structures as the top 40 pop hits such as Lady Gaga. basically Lamb Of God is pop music with distorted guitars and screaming on top, just proving how the band is only image.
Well that's simply wrong. For starters I don't know what kind of pedant dislikes a ban due to song structures, but hey, tastes are tastes, I'm not going to force you to like a band. What I really think is wrong is that you're saying it's harmful to metal. On the contrary, I think LoG are great for metal. LoG being a pretty big band in metal they're inspiring kids getting into metal to make their own. I for one, think this can only be a good thing. Even crap music can influence great music (see 80's glam metal influencing a crapload of 90's metal bands, and bands today defending the pile of crap that was St. Anger).

If you can bash LoG for being commercial (which they may well be, I'll admit) then you can't really call me out on bashing pop music. Pop music is commercialisation distilled into musical form, that's why I'm not fond of it.

Regarding the song structure thing, I'll again admit that LoG aren't exactly pushing the envelope in terms of musical complexity, but in my opinion they write some fairly solid, enjoyable songs. Not every band has to defy convention to be good.

Just out of interest, so I can see where you're coming from here, what bands would you say make good metal in your opinion?

I just want to say thank you for making this thread. It has been incredibly entertaining. One of the best threads I've browsed here in quite some time. Keep it up! I wish I had something to contribute, myself.

Why do people keep posting this video on the escapist. Please lets just forget it exists and get on with our lives lest we waste them trying to kill these people.

wow ok I got ninjaed with justin beiber and brokenclyde. I give you a shitty cover of numb by linkin park
I don't like the cover either, but it's not shitty, it's just done in a different style - and the singer can definitely sing.

To contrast, I give you a genuinely shitty cover:

The guitarist, bassist, and singer all have been practising their respective arts for at least three whole years prior to this video.

The drummer had only been doing so for a short time, gave a good performance, and is now pretty fucking amazing.

The others... not so much.

Sorry for the double post, but I couldn't help myself:

Some of us really like LoG, and don't mind (or even enjoy) the predictable song structure, and unless you can supply us with something better, I feel it would be best to acknowledge that they are not a bad band (of which one genuine example is displayed in my previous post), rather not to your taste.

This is not to say some music isn't crap, of course...

Thats just generalising a whole genre which you dont have 100% knowledge of.
Seems like a fair generalisation to me. Pop music is, by definition, what's popular, i.e. what's selling the most. Generally, it's more a business than an art. After a few years of hearing this stuff in bars and clubs (it's not so bad after a few jack and cokes :p) I've yet to hear something good enough to prove that wrong.

It doesnt have to be complex, but damn is it predictable and boring, they write the same thing over and over.
Cynic, Death, Gorguts, Atheist, Neurosis, Opeth, Negura Bunget, Deathspell Omega, Morbid Angel, Black Sabbath, Metallica (Early), Celtic Frost, Suffocation, Meshuggah, Blut Aus Nord, Isis, Exivious, Animals As Leaders, Demilich, Devin Townsend, Agalloch, maudlin of the Well, Electric Wizard, Portal.

Could name more...

Could do many more.
Seems like a disagreement of taste, more than anything. I wouldn't call them boring, myself. And the only bands I seem to have in common with you are Opeth, Sabbath, Metallica and Meshuggah. Seems like you've explored metal a lot more than I have, so it's fair enough if you find the more mainstream stuff a bit dull.

"Blah Blah Blah" by ke$sha."

Really do I need to say anything more then the chorus AND the title is "blah blah blah?"

Just check out the review of this "masterpiece" :http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/teamt/tis/tpsr/20736-ep-01-kesha-blahblahblah

Just hearing the name "ke$ha" makes me feel like I need to take a shower to get the stank of skank off of me.

Does the Spiderman musical count?

No, well, probably not anyway.

Then I'd say this:
<spoiler=Would Cover><youtube=0-XA67XpW1k>

Why? Well, first off, the person singing sounds like they should wait till they finish puberty. Secondly, when you look like you're an American Eagle spokesperson, you shouldnt be singing Grunge. Third, that hair... just... just no. you're making Layne Staley roll over in his grave.

Here's the Original:

The brokenCyde video features, just in the screencap of the embedded video, at least five things I hate. An annoying scene kid feeling on a slut doing the duckface.

I urge them to die in fires.

Can I just say the entire techno, pop, and screamo genres and say mission accomplished?
And I don't want to hear about how Lamb of God's songs are generic but I shouldn't generalize techno, because at least LoG needs to do something on stage besides screech into a mic and do crappy drugs. Katy Perry, for example, uses unimaginative, retarded, over-sexualized lyrics and a standard beat she caterwauls over. Nice chest and nothing more.

Maybe I'm biased because LoG was amazing live...hmm.

I really hate songs where they have vocals but the singer isn't actually singing.

So my list would comprise of:
3OH!3
Kings of Leon
Brokencyde
Jedward

Although Jedward gets some respect because they can still sing when one of their legs break on stage.
