Hope that Fallout becomes reality and Mr.House saves me and the majority of Las Vegas. But if thats not the case Id hide out in the Mojave and if I do survive then probable die of dehydration.

I live two miles from a former RAF Harrier base, which is now used for training. Within five miles is an army base. Ten miles away is a former RAF base, which is now Army. If we hear the four-minute warning, we're fucked!

So, with that in mind, I'm stripping off all my clothes, climbing onto the roof and screaming in the direction of the nearest base.

And I can only hope it's not a false alarm. I could never explain that to my neighbours!!

Well I'd probably die...

So with that in mind I'd probably strike some ridiculous pose so my scorch marks confuse future archeologists, most likely whilst bawling like a baby.

I live a few miles away from Manchester (UK) and that along with places like Liverpool, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow and Edinburgh are all cities you'd nuke after taking out London.

I put in a Russian Tsar Bomba 100mt on the nuke map http://www.nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/ and to put it bluntly if the initial blast/fireball and shockwave alone doesn't kill me then I can look forward to a 500 rem per hour (5 Grays; over 8 results in certain death and that's total exposure) radiation dose, meaning I'd have less than 1.5 hours to escape the danger zone and find medical help, otherwise I can look forward to dying 1-2 days later.

So yeah if a nuke did hit Manchester it's between instant death or an extremely drawn out and painful death.

Considering that can we please top playing "Poke the Russian poke the Russian OMG they're coming for us!"

Well, if they chose to nuke the capital of my state, I'd start exploring the opportunities provided by being a heavily-irradiated corpse crushed by a collapsed apartment building.

I don't see a lot of upward potential in the position, myself.

It depends, really. I'd survive the blast unless I'm in the dockyards when it happens. Presumably, if they'd nuke my city at all, it'd be a small, tactical warhead aimed for the shipping, rather than the city proper. An SS-25 and anything upwards would probably do me in, though.

Of course, with most of the rest of Europe burning, the collapse of dust and the inevitable enviromental damage... I'd have a good shot at surviving the actual bomb, but less so what comes after. It'd all depend on what preparations are in place, and how bad the exchange is.
Hell, it'd be unlikely my city would even experience a nuke, unless it's done to deny a winning side the tactical advantage of a harbour.

If things did escalate to that degree, though, I'd likely get called up to serve, and would probably be freezing in the rain in some forest rather than be at home minding my own business.

Fuck all worth nuking where I live. Back in the 60's it was not far from a V-bomber base, so that would have been shit.

[EDIT: Actually, I forgot about the Naval airbase with 2 anti submarine warfare squadrons based in it and the old satellite comms hub nearby. Given the prevailing winds usually come from the SW I'd be set up for taking the worst of the fallout from that, if it was considered worth hitting.]

Still, even back at the time when the plans were basically "nuke everything, just in case, then nuke it again" the general consensus was that casualties from the bombs were only going to be a fraction of the deaths from starvation, disease etc as society broke down afterwards.

As usual I recommend watching threads:

EDIT: Why the uploader stuck some boobs in a gas mask on the still image I don't know, it is a very poor representation of the film within. Also, probably best to watch it on youtube rather than the embed, it's in 720p.

I'd try to move somewhere far off like Australia, while cursing the rest of the world for their bottomless stupidity.

I live in the United States, a few miles away from Atlanta so I'm probably safer now than I was when I lived within walking distance of DC. I'm relatively high up too, not quite in the mountains but definitely at a higher elevation which may or may not help if Atlanta is attacked...although given how far I am from Atlanta (about 2 - 3 hours drive depending on traffic) I may not be effected at all. I may actually be closer to South Carolinan cities of interest but that doesn't stop me being in the middle of nowhere. The problem would come from me not wanting to fight despite living in the south, where I'll likely be killed or imprisoned by the Government for not wanting to 'protect my home land' or, I'll be killed by neighbors who likewise feel I should be serving to 'protect the Home Front' or some such thing.

Let's just see here...if Atlanta is hit by a...Dong-Feng 5 (5MT)...It actually looks like it wouldn't touch me. Lets see what happens if they use a Tsar Bomba 50...Well...there goes Atlanta and Suwanne (a favorite shopping location for my family, great Korean restaurants etc). I'm still outside of the Thermal Radiation Radius so while there will still likely be fallout in my area (I think) I don't have to worry about that. I'm guessing...no? With the 100MT Bomba I still seem to be just barely outside of the blast radius. I don't see myself escaping some kind of radiation sickness and I'm positive I'd be able to see either of the Bomba go off from my home. If I'm at work, either of the Bombas are going to fucking kill me but the DF5 shouldn't kill me from my work place.

I'm just going to assume that any nuke detonating anywhere in the state I'm in will outright kill the fuck out of me.

This was surprisingly fun to toy around with, I couldn't help but giggle at the casualties/injuries counter results. (I'm a horrible human being...)

OT:
First things first, enjoy my joyous survival (since I live waaaaaay North of LA effectively avoiding all forms of nuclear death) by rounding up a bunch of bottle caps. And enjoy the only time i'll probably ever get to feel like a rich man.

Second, head to the closest coast, which would be Oxford with my friends and family. Followed by Plan B, head up to Oregon: Safer, family connections, the fact that it's Oregon, the sheer amount of desolate forest up there would be pretty ideal.

Third, have a pint and wait for this all to blow over...
Unless Ghouls become a norm, in that case i'd get locked and loaded, and form the greatest band of survivalists the world will ever know...

Seeing as multiple nuclear weapons are headed straight for my house(or a few miles from it) I would do the following,

1. Shit pants
2. Pray
3. Cry
4. Pray More
5. Kiss my happy ass goodbye.

If this was after I commission then I'd do as ordered.

Could be worst, those who would die fast or instantly would be the lucky ones. The rest would either die slowly or be those who live outside the blast and fallout areas who have to survive and rebuild.

Well my first thought was to find the Sarah Connor - playground fence clip from Terminator 2 where everyone gets disintegrated and just post "pretty much that".

If it all kicked off while i was at work i would get down into our basement and camp out in one of the archive lockers - they are underground and they are fire proofed so would probably provide some level of radiation shielding. If i was at home i would get the hell away from the windows and get under something sturdy.

Assuming i survive I would look to secure a safe place to bed down, food, tools and power. For shelter i would probably head to the aforementioned basement at my work, for food i would look to find a school or hotel - somewhere with a well stocked professional kitchen as supermarkets etc would be swarmed by most survivors in the first instance. For power while i think i could probably rig up a rudimentary electric generator the most practical choice would probably be to find and stockpile some batteries in the first instance. Same deal as the food, but raid an office or somesuch.

Now its time to set about rebuilding civilisation!

I don't know about you, but I'd much rather have to rebuild then just be reduced to dust.

Absolutely nothing...

It's not like I could do anything that would let me survive the aftermath, at least...

I'll probably be acting like Shawn and just act like nothing's going on around me until it's, basically, too late...

There are a bunch of internal passages in the university that I could hide out in that go underneath the hill, which combined with the low priority my country and city would garner would render my safe from most short term fallout.

I thank God for suburban sprawl for the first time in my life. I'm so far from the city center that I'd probably avoid the blast of everything smaller than an H-bomb.

After that, I lock all the doors, cover shattered windows with tarpaulin, crack out the Brita filters, put Aphex Twin's "Rhubarb" on repeat and wait for rescue.

I am not sure a bomber or ICBM would be able to target the NE east coast we do have quite a few defensive screens. A suitcase bomb would have a small yield, and I am far enough from NYC and Boston that fallout would not be that much of an issue. The aftermath would probably not be all that fun though.
