Supposedly, one of the reasons it was such a flop (besides being nearly unplayable), was that they actually produced more game cartridges than there were systems to play them on.

Also, I agree with the person that mentioned Pac-Mac. Words cannot describe the profound disappointment I felt when I plugged that sucker into the 2600 and turned it on. :::shiver:::

Worst. FUCKING. Game. Ever
Damn...was gonna say that. More because of how big it was "supposed" to be. A trilogy that was supposed to be so huge.

Edit: Sheesh, people just putting personal flops. Biggest flop of all time implies universally, not just for you. I wouldnt say Halo 3 for example, because as big a let down for me as it was, its still popular as hell. Hardly a flop.

Force Unleashed crushed one or two dreams. If they have another pull down a star destroyer sequence in the next game then hopefully they'll fix the controls.

Duke Nukem Forever. The only game that was so bad that when it was released, it was immediately removed from shelves and the devs claimed "they're reworking the engine." Yeah, like I believe that. /sarcasm

But 12 years and nothing to prove? I'd say that's a HUGE flop.
Yeah, I have to agree with this. Duke Nukem Forever is a name that will live in infamy among the gaming community probably for as long as there is a gaming community.

Also, I imagine Sonic '06 will continue to have an unpleasant legacy considering even the developers themselves admit it was a flop.

Im not really sure what you mean by flop but psychonauts is a great example. The thing is even after all the semi-recent push to get more to people to play it no one really does. Also I didnt like it and I am really fond of Schafer so yeah...

YES. Holding down the thumbsticks is not an epic way of pulling down a ship from the sky!

Sooo... Yeah. What he said.

Megaman 64 hurt me deep. It took me until Resonance of Fate before I was ready to trust semi-linear JRPGs.

The worst flop of all time? Twilight Princess, easily. The runner-up is ME2, which is in turn followed closely by KOTOR 2.

The worst game of all time? ^I don't know^, but I thought Lost Odyssey was nothing short of painful.
Hahaha, oh wow.

Sorry, but I don't see how Twilight Princess can be 'easily' considered a flop, by any stretch of the imagination.

I think you might want to clarrify that a "flop" doesn't mean "of poor quality". A flop just is something that didn't make back its investment, I.E. lost money. Okami? Fantastic game, but didn't even sell half a million units between its wii and PS2 ports. While bad quality ussually leads to a flop, a good game can be just as a finical disaster as a good game.

For out right money shredders, the Atari 2600 port of Pac-man really is the winner. Even though the game sold millions of units, it only sold around 8 of the 12 million produced. They hoped the game would push sales above then 10 million units sold that the Atari was at, but sadly failed since they were forced to rush out a test print to meet a copyright court case to have something to present to the court. ET was the final nail, but Pac-man was the twenty nails before it.

Do you mean a game that I personally found to be disappointing or one that was widely considered to be disappointing?

If the former, then I'd have to go with Fallout 3. Crappy gameplay, no interesting characters, bloody monotonous.
If the latter, then that Ubisoft Avatar game seems like a likely contender.

Battlefield: Heroes; Dragonshard; and Battlefield 2142.

Everyone who signed up was a beta-tester for the former. Have you even heard of the middle one? And Battlefield 2142 had the best squad-based gameplay; however nobody followed orders and even the devs called it a fail.

It's easy actually.

- The incredible lack of difficulty
- The terribly stretched out and boring "Wolf Link" segments
- Having to hunt down like 10 of those stupid golden bugs for each segment
- The massive amount of gadgets that wind up being useless
- A sporadic and uninvolved storyline
- The exponentially declining length and quality of the dungeons (once you get past the Water dungeon)
- Having absolutely nothing to spend all of your extra rupees on (except for a crappy suit of armor that absorbs your rupees in turn for making you invincible, but eats through them so fast it doesn't even matter)
- Zelda STILL doesn't put out at the end, or even get naked >:C
- Having the other 2 Tri-Force wielders (Zelda and Ganondorf) do next to NOTHING until the very end of the game, merely reduced to cameos almost

And so on and so forth...
