Come on guys its just another Dicaprio movie. Does anyone remember Shutter Island. I bet there's going to be another Dicaprio movie just like it out in a year.
Hell yes, Shutter Island was amazing! But as far as Inception goes, it's not just diCaprio that makes me love it so much (though thanks to Romeo+Juliet, Catch Me If You Can, and The Aviator, I am a firm Leo fan...). No, Inception is an outstanding piece of cinematography, with a brilliant musical score, a very well-rounded cast with both unknowns (and relative unknowns) alongside big name stars, all of whom are exceptional actors. The plot is original and unique, something that is sadly a rarity in cinema nowadays (bearing in mind Christopher Nolan was working on the script for about ten years before production, deciding he needed more experience making movies before tackling a large scale project like this; that was the decision that spurred him to make Memento, The Prestige, and the Batman reboots, before taking this film on).

Overall, there are so many factors that combine that give the reason for why this film is so widely lauded, more so than "just another diCaprio movie".

It wobbled at the end, so I'm guessing that it was real life. Obviously it was meant to be ambiguous and discussed but it wobbled. Everyone says that if it was a dream it would have lasted, but I don't think so. Why else would they have shown it wobble?

Just to detract from Nolan's credentials a moment, The Prestige was originally a novel. The film is highly adapted though, I believe, and the writer said it was one of the best films he'd ever seen

When he's dreaming, he's wearing a wedding ring. When he's not, he's not. At the end, he isn't wearing a ring.
But he has just let go of Mal, there's no reason that, if he is aware he is dreaming, he can't just take it off

Yeah, I did make this topic but anyways, I think it was a dream because his children are in the same spot wearing the same clothes as when he pictures them early on. However, it does also show their faces for the first time so that's a sign that points towards it being reality.

Regardless of the meaning behind the ending, I enjoyed watching this movie. It was one of the better movies I've seen this year.

If you look closely, despite being the same colour, their clothers are certainly different. I don't think him seeing the children's faces is that significant. He could have seen them at various points, but chooses to do so when he THINKS he has reached reality. Perhaps he is aware he is dreaming and chooses to make the most of what he thinks may be his last chance to see them.

Hes been away from his kids for years yet they haven't aged 1 day and thats usually when they grow the most. I think hes probally dreaming and even if the top did wobble as long as it never falls on its side then it would be continously spinning and it would prove they were in a dream. And It was also stated that they had to handcraft the totem to know its charaistics and such and since he had none of that information since he didn't create it, the totem shouldn't be able to prove if its a dream or not.

If I remember correctly, the film never states how long he has been away, it is implied that he's been away for a while, but never stated.

Also, did anyone pick up on Cobb's father in law saying 'come back to reality'? May have a significant meaning. If he is just a projection, it could be his subconscious mind telling him it's time to wake up

Spoilers Ahead.

It was good for Hollywood. Nothing mindblowing, but it was a good solid movie. Also the ending SUCKED. It was a cop out for giving us a solid ending and a cheap way to make people talk about the movie, kind of like we are right now. Also he was awake at the end, since in all his other dreams he wore a wedding wing, which he didn't have on at the end and he could see his kid's face. That and

since the top wobbled it will eventually fall proving it's reality. Anyone that disagrees with me is Hitler. That is all.

I agree with most of that. Also there was a point a point near the beginning when he first talks to his children on the phone their voices seem to change in mid conversation seeming to indicate that his children have aged and he just has never seen them but talked to them. (Yeah, it's total speculation but that's what I picked up on)

The point of the ending is to make you question your own reality. The movie made me successfully conclude that I am currently dreaming because I cannot remember how I got here :D

T'was a good movie, and I can't for the life of me figure out what the fuck was going on in the latter half of the movie. I mean, I got the basic gist of it, but most of the finer details were lost on me.

Maybe it didn't fall over but it did wobble and the clip before of the top going until it fell over proved that it could spin for a long time. The shot simply cut out too early

I didn't like Inception much. I expected more. I should have known better. After all the hype it was still just another Hollywood action film, albeit one with a vaguely complicated plot. I would like to have seen a non-Hollywood take on the subject.
