There is a difference between voluptuous (large breasts and hips, with or without a powerful build aside from that) and a pole with two watermelons tied to it with a few strips of electrical tape. There is tasteful and there is blatant "pandering." Where people draw the line is where you see most disagreement, but for the most part people aren't arguing about the existence of the line. Generally there's a problem when the female character looks like a supermodel or a porn star but has no redeeming qualities aside from that, especially when it comes to the story line or character arch. Then you have simply a token woman who also serves the purpose of being masturbation material.

TL,DR: When the beauty is only skin deep, we have a right to complain.
I'll have to get back to you, but I completely understand where you're coming from.

In fact, your comment is going to be represented. See for yourself.

For my part, women objectifying/commodifying themselves = empowerment. Men objectifying/commodifying women = sexist pigs?

I'm sure short skirts and pushup bras are meant to accentuate inner beauty, right? Makeup and cosmetic surgery are all about demonstrating personality and intellect, mmm?

The only woman I can remember that looked like she was actually built for fighting is Hammer from Fable 2.

In fact, upon reflection, I'd say she was the best character in the game.
Which was silly because of the reasoning behind her size (ie more physical women will be schwarzeneggerian beasts) when in reality most men can't even get that large without roids, hgh, etc.

I like you, op.

Ok this may sound bad but here me out. First off I'm a girl so this isn't just be wanting to keep wank material around. Why is this a problem? Like what real world problem does it cause? It's not like every game has girls in stripperific clothes. untill we elect so crazy dictator that makes all women wear spandex I'm fine with guys having eyecandy just as long as I get mine too (Im looking at you thor ^^ )

Yes I find it increasingly silly. It's nothing really to do with weight though, it's just a consequence of weight being related to attractiveness socially. Women are made up to be attractive in games, despite how impractical that may be...

Wha..? ._.

And let me guess... The men in that game all got real armour, can't have male nudity scaring away all the teenaged boys, can we?
Actually no.

1: That is a picture of the Castanic race is TERA - their entire race, including the men, is highly sexualized. Their home city looks like a red light district. Its kind of their thing. While female armors do tend to be a little less modest than male armors, the revealing outfits are based on class, not gender. The magical/ranged classes all get very revealing/"sexy" outfits, both males and females. The melee classes (except for the Castanics) all wear appropriately huge armor - including the females, though some Elven armors are the exception.
Finally someone who knows about the game and not just heard about it on line. Good job but I would brace yourself for the incoming flamewars

I personally like a larger woman, and thoroughly enjoyed playing Saint's Row 3 as a hyper violent, fuller figured girl, and found it all rather hilarious.

It's also fun to play as myself, a big guy, and suddenly be super agile!

I'm just waiting for equality to catch up, seems to be a fairly big following of the 'BBW' look, yet us big guys are still waiting for our creepy internet stalkers :)

Bah, captcha was 'lunchtime', is it trying to tell me something? (read that angry post about hatred of people posting captchas and it reminded me to post!)

Given your apparent familiarity with the game (I'm guessing you play? My MMO of choice ATM is waiting on TSW release...) think you could demonstrate your point?

Maybe do the same image with a different race/class combo(s) that might demonstrate your point? Or with the same race/class as that picture but male? I think it would be an interesting comparison, if nothing else.

I like pretty girls. Being able to see hip and/or rib bones is pretty to me. I approve of gaming's vision of the female form.

I also prefer my men rather thin but that's pretty rare in Western games.

Sexualised or objectified characters don't make a piece of fiction inherently bad, just trashy.
I mean look at Die Hard. The only female presence in that movie is Holly McLane and she is literally just a damsel in distress there for the male protagonist to save.
We don't hate on Die Hard though, because we're well aware it's trash, and should be expecting nothing more from it.

Example of mid-high female armor (for the Warrior class I think):

H.. how does that make sense? High level armour is ment to protect you, not put your enemies into a form of shock caused by simealtaneous confusion and infatuation. Ok, maybe that, too.

Regaurdless, I'd like to see a female-character in an RPG or action game who isn't like a twig with two grapes stuck to it, who excels in physical attacks. Just, let me see one, to prove to me that video-game developers don't just want to make their female-characters hot.

In Persona 3 & 4, while the female characters (excluding Aigis. But I don't think you could pursue a relationship with her) were usually quite skinny and excelled in magic, and obviously, looked atractive, atleast weren't so skinny they would snap if you looked at them too hard.

Saints Row 3 is shit. I'm going to leave this here.
*posts a video with a game that gives you the option to be a fat chick in a thread that claims there is almost no games with that option*
*gets a reply how bad the game is*

you just went there. i am ashamed.
Deal with it. I would have accepted Saints Row 2. I can play an ultra-fat, ultra-muscular guy in that game, but not in Saint's Row the 3rd.

But... giving current gaming 'female icons'

/sigh
You might say that, but despite the awful writing of Halo 3 and so far dubious writing of Halo 4. Cortana is probably the most developed and interesting character of the Halo series, sexy hologram or not.

You can do ALOT worse than Cortana.

As long as Dante from Devil may cry 1-4 fame exists then male and female characters are equal in terms of sexualisation. That guy exudes Sexuality god dammit!

This is the embodiment of all overly-politically-correct male writing a generic girl-power nerd-girl comics. It just seems sad to me.
EDIT: Also, I had another point that was horribly incorrect. Forget about it, it was written in ignorance and spite.
