In my opinion Dragonforce would be a decent power metal band, if it didnt have some major flaws.
First off, over half of their fanbase heard of them through Guitar Hero 3. No im not kidding. So in a way, it wasnt their music that made them famous, and im against that.
Second: heard one song, heard em all. And not just lyrically, the songs sound the same in a lot of ways. ie similar riffs, same structure. They lack variety is what im getting at.
Third: Lyrics... Yeah its the same lyrics over and over again. I wonder how many different words they have used in total. Probably not a lot.
Fourth: The guitarists; a) playing fast does not equal playing well b) only write music you can play (as i have heard from friends that have gone to their concerts, apparantly they aren't nearly as good live.) furthermore c) dont cover up what you cant do with a guitar with effects and dubbing (yeah so apparantly they dub over their mistakes in the studio, either that or they do many recordings, in which case they cant play their music ) [note b and c is only what ive heard] d)tapping is cheating. doing hammerons and pulloffs with both hands is far easier than playing normally. and considering that there are many guitarists who can play faster, better, and far more complex music using the not cheating method, I cant classify droganforce as having very good guitarists.
Fifth: disgustingly generic. its every power metal cliche rolled into one band, for every song.
Sixth: I just find that almost everything about them is juvenile.

Overall they're ok, and fun to listen to once in a while. But I listen to better stuff anyway.
jeez i can already sense the wave of hate thats gonna hit me for this

...you just posted in a thread where at least 2/3 of the people have shared your opinion, and you expect to get flamed?

I used to like them, but now that the singer left I drifted away.

Did introduce me to Hammerfall and Blind Guardian though.

ok i started to write the thing when like 5 people had posted before me, so i couldnt see a trend. After i posted it i was like "oh, other people think the same way i guess". And now ive just remembered what kind of people generally populate this forum, not assholes. So yes that last line was not needed.

You do realize its actually next to impossible to play DragonForce songs on the guitar, first off, they speed up the play for most of the songs in the album versins, and 2, they probably use an extra guitarist

They seem to really have their music to last a little too long, and it becomes repititious and dull.
Their lyrics lack any sort fo real back bone and just sound like they are churning out what ever comes into their head. I like lyrics that have more depth than what they have to offer. (some might say that i enjoy emo stuff, but that is subjective.)

I think they are overrated and play way to much to have any feeling or feeling of well I don't know exactly.

You should listen to Steve Vai play he is my favorite guitarist and I think he is great and one of the best.

Edit:I meant that they play too fast not too much.

Why all the hate on Studioforce?
I dunno about everyone else, but I dislike them because:
a) All their songs sound exactly the same
b) All their songs are sped up slightly in studio, making their unique factor not so real
c) They're absolutely terrible live

1) They are terrible in live performances
2) They have no sense of pacing; their songs are like non-stop solos, and have no buildup.
3) It's "Epic Music"- the lyrics are corny, the titles are ridiculous, and they lack any personal appeal. Which is to say...
4) Their is no emotion or soul to their songs.

Eh, probably just jealous they didn't think of it first. Or, they're pop fans, God knows opinions from THOSE posers don't mean a thing. ;)

The songs kind of get samey. They're still epic muscisans. 'Operation Ground and Pound' has a savage intro. But eventually it seems like its a solo with a song..

I like them, but Shru1kan has a point, all this hate started after GH3. Also all their fans seem to be obnoxious 12 year olds, I went to see them at Glasgow's Barrowlands and I swear 3/4 of the audience were half my age.

They are bland and tasteless, mainly because the whole band revolves around how fast they can play. This sort of thing appeals to some people, mainly teenagers who say "epic" a lot. The band is formed on a gimmick, not how well they play, not how good their songs are, and not how good their shows are. People listen to this band because "zomg they play so fast!" which does not in any way appeal to me at all.

I'm sure there are bands out there that can play just as fast, but actually have some depth to their songs.

They're quite fun. Not my favourite band ever, but they make music that's quite nice to listen to, and the singer sings rather than screeches or growls or whatever the fuck it's called, I can't listen to music with people screaming. So I prefer it over alot of bands in the same genre.
