People will complain about something not having all the features they want but in the end if they want they will purchase it. Develpoers know this too.
I won't. I buy games like COD for its multilayer game play, not having dedicated servers pretty much took away any chance of me buying the game. I have played it on my mates consoles and PC and I do that that game has had a lot improved that has balanced the game, but they took out a few features that defined it as a PC game and not a crappy console port, which it seems to be.

If anything, I'm glad people buy the game, it keeps developers interested in the PC market for now.
Companies like EA an Activision make more money from the PC than they do from the 360. Admittedly if you add PS3 numbers as well then "HD consoles" outpace PC for some types of games but it also should be easier to port from 360 to PC than PS3. If that doesn't "keep them interested" then I don't know what will. Some people like to talk down the PC market because they have some sort of agenda but don't forward their viral messages and do their work for them.

well, this is disappointing.
They must be dumping in digital sales of teh PC version in this figure, because it's simply not plausible otherwise.
Direct2Drive, Impulse and GamersGate (whatever that last one is, and a few others) btw. didn't even offer to sell the game (basically they had their own "boycott" and refused selling it), because Activision decided to bundle it with Steam/Steamworks... so the only "Digital Sales" to behold is basically Steam alone:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/181637/sales_boycott_over_modern_warfare_2_with_steam_trojan_horse.html
still, steam is a solid 70% of the digital market, so it's not that big a loss, especially when the numbers aren't previously counted.

the real sad part in the whole MW2 pc fiasco is now since Activision and IW pulled off this
plan all major Devs and publishers are going to do exactly the same just like "R4ge" has.
Unlikely, Valve would never pull this kind of crap and DICE have already sworn to deciated severs, and those are the only multiplayer games I really play.

Well, I expected this to happen. People who like MW2 but who wanted dedicated servers were nothing but sheep to the slaughter. They just can't stand living without another FPS.

Beyond indie games, rts's and MMOs the pc doesn't have shit right now.
OK, HD consoles are famous for being flooded with shooters and suddenly PC is the sick man for having a huge variety of games but not as many exclusive shooters as it used to?

i did mention in that same post ill be buying valve games that still like the PC :D
and Dice idk besides battlefield i havnt seen any other games they made i played battlefield 2 and that free mmo one Heroes they were pretty nice games. but i played bad company one and it was sort of not all that great ... iam one of the peeps that's expecting bad company 2 since they feature 2 of the things i loved the most : 1- Frostbite engine blowing every thing up is hella fun and even makes a good tactics thingy. 2- dedicated servers :D

lets hope this new trend doesn't get out of proportion but still this is merely 2 teams out of many

If anything, between Casual gamers and MMO's, PC's probably have the largest audience, although many of these people wouldn't be interested in a game such as MW2.

I've long ago realized that no one is going to make millions of dollars catering to my personal gaming tastes and interests. Except Blizzard. Dammit why do they take so long?

Obviously saying that MW2 sold a bunch of units says nothing regarding its overall profitability, and even less regarding the wisdom of removing dedicated servers. It would be interesting to have some kind of metric that expresses units sold per marketing dollar.

Yeah, I downloaded the game unofficially. I'm hoping that it might send them SOME messages - people might think it's a good SP game, but a shitty multiplayer. Because if a game is pirated a LOT and it was supposed to be multiplayer-heavy, then it might mean people don't care about the MP.
No, that would unfortunately just give them reason to just axe the PC altogether.

Transformers 2 was a tremendous success too... but that didn't stop it from being a steaming turd.
A certain sparkly film also was a tremendous success.

Well, I got an... unofficial... version of the game, so I certainly didn't help them achieve their tremendous success. You never get it! You never get it! "waves his money in the air":(
mine either!!! *waves hand full of change in the air*

on a more serious note, they will get my money if they up the player count and/or release dedicated server files atleast

I'm sorry but I call bullshit to this on IW's part until I see some some figures of sales this is just bullshit to me last I check PC sales were around 50,000 in UK which isn't big even for the "small percentage" PC gaming apparently occupies.(yes I know it is small but not to the extent it is being made out)

I'm pretty sure their goal is just release something about the game every day no matter how good, bad or completely controversial it is. I am really tired of hearing about it to be honest.
