Loved so many aspects of it... but coming together it was less than perfect.

Does that mean I only "like" it?
Does that mean I understand why people can "hate" this film?

No for both, this is a flawed classic and I Love it, especially for all the subtle fan-service to the good ole' Tarantino fans. It's just such a fun romp and I actually like it even more that liberal douchebags like Mark Kermode CAN'T like it because they get hung up on pedantic details like "oh, this is historically inaccurate!"

Plus, I LOVE the villain of the piece. Most of the film I see, especially recent releases, are usually so lacking in a decent villain that you can just love to hate, he seems to be there just as a place holder if not completely absent altogether.

i liked it. but i didn't want any of the basterds to die.

favorite quote:

"about this pickle we're in, there's only one thing to do"

"and what's that?"

"stiglitz."

"say auf wiedersehen to your nazi balls!"

I found the first twenty minutes of dialogue to be incredibly tense, and the basterds were not featured enough to keep it constantly interesting. I loved the movie as a whole, but the fact that it was called the Inglorious Bastards and that only 1/4 of the movie has them in it kind of threw me off, but that is Tarantino for you.

THIS IS FUN. Like, like, like. I am glad they did not exclude killing Hitler and make it all be just another of 1000 and 1 stories during WWII. I mean, damn, did you see his face while he was getting shot? He started looking like Freddy Kruger.

Personally I found that whole thing kind of MEH. The only part of the movie I thought was good was the nazi propaganda film, because it was so ridiculous.

good-to-Meh, I LOVED the Basterds, too bad they were only in like two scenes.
I enjoyed them as side characters, and I really hate how all the ads make it look like the movie is completely about them. I enjoyed the movie a lot. Exceeded every one of my expectations, which before seeing it was, "Nazi killing and explosives = stupid movie".

Hmmmm i liked it but i have to confess i was a bit dissapointed...it's a great movie (Christopher Waltz is simply amazing) but not quite what i expected. About the argument that the movie isn't historically correct....while this may be true i dare anyone to say he or she didn't atleast grin as Hitler was gunned down.

PS: It's nice to see a movie with proper german in it for a change aswell instead of the usuall "habe di gugeheimer gesprockt" babble ;P

Following contains spoilers.

Love/hate with me.
When it actually got intense I really liked it because of the over the top action, but there was waaaaaay too much pointless dialog. That scene in the bar took like, half of the movie and all they did was talk until the end when it was resolved in a couple of minutes. Also some of the writing was a bit iffy. I found it a lot less compelling because the bastards didn't actually DO anything. The result would've been the same, if not better, if they hadn't done anything and the theatre just got burnt down with Hitler in it.

Liked the violence, meh on the story, hate the writing.

I'm shocked to find that some people have stated there was too much talking.. in a bloody Tarantino film? Just.. I'm speechless, you fellas should just stick to watching the Transformers movies.
Or films that have meaningful and interesting dialogue as opposed to pseudo-intellectual masturbation. I mean, either way, right?

It was meh. I loved the action but it seemed like talking for 20 mins, action, talking for 20 mins, action, talking for 20 mins, action, and finale.
Your viewing assignments before you can post again are as follows; Reservoir Dogs. Pulp Fiction. Jackie Brown. True Romance. Kill Bill Parts 1 and 2. Reservoir Dogs. Pulp Fiction. Pulp Fiction. True Romance.

OT - I loved Inglourius Basterds (I just can't spell it...), it's definitely in my top three films of 2009 with District 13 : Ultimatum and, well, District 9. Cristoph Waltz is a spectacular actor, definitely hope he's up there with Samuel L. Jackson in all of Tarantino's movies from now on.

The movie entertained me, and was enjoyable, even though I the historical inaccuracy made me want to eat my shoes at time in frustration. But then I remembered the inaccuracy was part of the movies charm.

The opening scene is hands down one of the best scenes i have ever seen. Christopher Waltz really outdid himself throughout the film.

I thought It was funny as hell...Apart from the major historical innacurracy, the gore was majorly over the top, but hey.

Haven't seen it because I dislike Tarantino movies. Can't get into them, I find all of his movies I have seen to be self-indulgent excercises in "look how cool I am". Choc full of in-jokes, b-movie film references, ultra cool violence, and self-aggrandising cameos. And because of that I find them extremely dull.
