Is the THX-1138 one from Star Wars. I know George Lucas uses a number in all his movies from one of the companies he's with. I think it is, "Cell block 1138." And there was a stormtrooper with that tag on Episode 3. I don't remember the others.

I heard about THX-1138, it's a sort of recurring George Lucas designation that started with his first movie, aptly named THX-1138.
As for the others you mention, I don't have a clue.
I know some from the classic Lucasarts adventures of yore, 'I'm a mighty pirate!' and Hi! I'm selling these fine leather jackets.' come to mind.

The Wilhelm Scream, yes. I actually discovered it fairly recently, because I was assembling a sound design for a sketch comedy show I took part in. There was a part where I needed some scream effects, and I stumbled across the culture of the Wilhelm Scream. Naturally, I incorporated it into my design.

It's also funny you should mention this now, because just this evening, I watched D-War and spotted it.

The Wilhem Scream was outed on a news show a while ago, it's no longer 'inside' to news junkie like me. THX 1138 is a great movie. I was really confused by the whole 'hologram that can eat food' thing, but whatever. I did not previously know what the teapot is.

And THX 1138 was a license plate in American Graffiti.

CRM 114...isn't that one of the Radio Codes in Doctor Strangelove?

I think it's occassionally used in other movies (not just ones from Kubrick), but i cannot recall any of them :x

I've heard of the Hello Sandy thing.

CRM 114 is a recurring Kubrick reference. It has been used outside of Kubrick's movies, but pretty much as a tribute.

The MacGuffin is not an inside joke, it's just a term to describe a plot convention.

If you show an inside joke, please explain it. It's like me saying... Jumbo/LARGE. Nobody gets it unless I say it's an inside joke designed for strictly that purpose in Strong Bad Email #156 "Road Trip", on Homestarrunner.com

The Wilhelm Scream is a sound effect recorded for general purpose 'man being eaten by aliigator' type situations and after 1980 had already been used in 30 movies. By then it had become cliche, but more of a movie industriy in-joke. Now, it has been in over 150 movies, including all the Star Wars and Indiana Jones films, Toy Story, Hellboy and a host of others.
A new theatre game is to shout 'Wilhelm' whenever you hear it. A movie compilation is shown here: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=cdbYsoEasio

THX-1138 is a science-fiction film made by George Lucas, and became a numerical joke all over the Star Wars franchise. You'd be surprised where you can find it.

The Utah Teapot is an object commonly found in 3D and NURBS programs. Computer Graphics Engineer Martin Newell used it as a refrence object for it's low complexity, saddle points and the fact it had a hole in it. Since, it has been used in many various 3D programs like XSI, Maya and 3Ds Max.

All three of the above can be found on Wikipedia.

Oh, and a "Wedge" character is like a redshirt, except they don't die. A Redshirt is a character that his/her only purpsoe in advancing the story is to indicate danger to the main characters via injury, capture or death. A Wedge character is a redshirt that survives. The name came from Luke Skywalker's friend 'Wedge'. He is in all 3 of the original Star Wars movies, and participated in arial battles like Lukes friends, except they all die, except Wedge.

Sally is the editor of Quentin Tarantino's films. When an actor screws up a cut, they say "Hi Sally" as she's the only one who'll see it.

That's so cool. Like a Redshirt boss. I usually call redshirts nameless peons. Gives 'em more class.
