"A great love is a lot like a good memory, when its there and you know its there it can be all that you think about. And you can focus on it and try to force it, but the more you do ,the more you seem to just push it away. But if your patient, and you hold still, well maybe, just maybe it'll come to you." - Church from Red Vs Blue

"If you were to turn into a snake tomorrow and began devouring humans, and from the same mouth that you devoured humans you cried out to me "I love you", would I still be able to say "I love you" the same way that I do today?" - Gin from Bleach

"Never give up. Never, never give up." - My father. Said this to me when I was about 10 years old after I had been having some trouble in my baseball league. The way he said it has stuck with me ever since. Cheesy? Yes, but damn if that hasn't caused me to come out on top in more than a few situations where failure was a likely outcome.

I'm pretty sure someone has posted the following before in a similar thread, but this has stuck with me since European History back in High School:

"Aut inveniam viam aut faciam" - Hannibal, when informed by one of his generals (or a group of his generals, I can't remember) that crossing the Alps with his troops and elephants wouldn't be possible. Latin for "I shall either find a way or make one". It's dubious at best if this exchange ever actually occurred, and if it had, it was certainly not communicated via Latin. But it's still badass none-the-less.

I never found nor know who said this, but it seems to be true so I stick with it
"What you hate most in others is what you hate most in yourself."

Inspirational would have to be "I AM the law." from Judge Dredd himself, ladies and gentlemen.

I'm surprised there aren't more Firefly quotes.

Serenity crew on a rescue mission with Kaylee and River watching the ship. Three men have them pinned down and Kaylee is too scared to fight back. River pokes her head out for less than a second, then grabs the gun from Kaylee. River steps out and while she looks in the OTHER direction, shoots all three men in one fluid move.

"No power in the 'verse can stop me."

Firefly crew have dozens of reavers closing in on them. Simon is explaining how he has already had to take care of River. River grabs a couple of weapons and looks at Simon.

"You don't have to look after me anymore." Then dives through the closing door to grab her can of whoop-ass before the reavers get to it.

"Oh, what the heck, I'll laugh anyway! Ah Ha Ha Ha Haa!" -Joker

"Somebody got F**ked in the a**!" -George Carlin

"Smoking weed didn't make me lazy, it just let me see that it totally wasn't worth it." -Bill Hicks

"I found a plot hole! Nurse!" -Ben Croshaw

"Extortion is fine. I mean, we can just barge into anyone's home and take their stuff anyway. It's our right as main characters. But I have to draw the line at serial murder." -Red Mage
"Frankly, I'm doing them a favor" -Black Mage

Nobody judge me on this one, he was the only thing I liked about the show.

"Science adjusts its views based on what's observed
Faith is the denial of observation so that belief can be preserved"
-Tim Minchin

Not necessarily the most badass line out there, but it's crushingly true.
I now realize that there is really no merit to make Science and Faith clash when they should really be mutually exclusive. The very definition of Faith requires it you to be able to believe in something regardless of evidence.
While I see your point, I don't think that's necessarily the only way to look at it. Even though faith requires you to believe regardless of proof, it doesn't mean that you aren't allowed to attempt to prove it. I think that if people really believe in their faith, then they should use science as the ultimate means of proving their faith to other people because if you actually believe fully in your faith, science shouldn't be some kind of ultimate threat that shakes you, but a means of proving yourself instead.
But that's the thing. If you attempt to prove it empirically, and it turns out you can't, you'll end up embarrassing yourself or digging yourself even deeper. The mere fact that you attempt to prove it means you lack it. Faith is not a sign of weakness, Internet! It takes massive balls to put your back behind something that may or may not be.

"..in Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace ? and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock." - Orson Welles

"Flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss"- Douglas Adams. Maybe not as deeply meaningful and thoughtful as some quotes but it's still my favourite. Possibly rivaled by Stephen Wright's "Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines".

Maybe silly to some, but this is still one of my faovrites of all time:

Gandalf: "End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it."
Pippin: "What? Gandalf? See what?"
Gandalf: "White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise."

Another, more srsly favorite quote:

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." - Thomas Jefferson

"Come and take them"- said by the spartans at thermopolye to the persians. It is actually the motto of the Greek 1st division I think
