If you can find it; Intelligence Cube, for PS1. I keep hoping it'll become available for DL on the PSN, but you never know. It's an old gem.
Hello, Ebay.
That's a good idea, but I don't want to pay 20 bucks for what I know will be 5 bucks online (one day). I can be patient. :)
Around where I live, we have a place called Mcvan's video game trader. They have a huge selection, and carry NES,SNES, and everything else from that era. Even 3DO. I didn't think of it right away because I haven't been there in a while.

When the PS2 was released, they kept selling their display model. They didn't want to, but people kept offering insane amounts of money for it.

Do all games have to be intelligent.
Of course not. But the intelligent games I derive the most satisfaction from. Also, whenever I see or play one, it restores my faith in gaming, not to mention humanity.
That's cool. Some of my most favorite games are games to kill time on. It's just for the fun and lolz.

I dunno if you are into art games, but "The Path" is a pretty intelligent game IMO. The game mechanics themselves aren't that challenging, but trying to deconstruct everything that happens is. It's like a game for English/Lit majors.

We used to have a place like that called FuncoLand, before Gamestop bought them (only to be later bought by EB... or is it vice versa...). I'd hardly consider ps1 the same era as NES or SNES, since I grew up when Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros were hot off the press. :) Still, I get what you're trying to say. Sadly, those days and venders are gone from these parts. It's the cutting edge or bust around here.

We used to have a FuncoLand around here...I still have some receipts from them. Nowadays the only place I can find old video games is this mostly DnD and collector's shop Dragon's Den... :/

It's like an hour and a half away from my house and they sell dreamcast games for like 20 dollars and shit -.-;

I'm not sure if it would be considered intelligent, but by your aforementioned preferences, I would recommend the Front Mission series. It's a strategy game, and it is somewhat deep. I would've said the Paper Mario games and catch you on a technicality (they were made by Intelligent Games Inc.), but I'm in a good mood.

BioShock, Portal, Braid and Mass Effect are all fantastic intelligent games.
Bioshock tried, and failed with me. Maybe its because System Shock 2 was better...It's a personal opinion. Yahtzee's review of bioshock Sums up my thoughts about the game.

Portal is definetley awesome.

X-Com: UFO Defense was mentioned before, but I consider it to be just about the ultimate strategy game. Has not been equalled in the 16-17 or so years since it was released.

Supreme commander is ok, and so is Halo wars, as far as "my first RTS -console edition" games go, but my favorite games that frustrate the shitout of me because of their moderate to fucked up difficuly curves are Dawn of War(all expanions included) and games like Golden sun, Yggdra Union, etc.,

If you think Oblivion is good, you obviously haven't played Morrowind. It makes Oblivion look like a big fat turd.
Played Morrowind for hours, never beat it. Made it to level 47. Beat the mage's guild quests.

I like oblivion better. It's just me. Love the graphics.
Anything else? The story quest sucks, the dialogue system is pathetic, the environments are repetetive, the physics is weird, you can't spellmake or enchant without going all over the map and doing ridiculously difficult quests designed for people with OCD, then becoming a member of a university and paying ridiculous amounts of money, the city design is boring, the dialogue is FUCKED, the dialogue is FUCKED, and the dialogue is FUCKED.

Reconsider.

Death Gate. 1994. PC. Probably abandonware by now. Game is freaking hard, and probably one of the first games to have high quality voice acting at length. My god, that game has so much dialogue.

It's also the game that got me into point-and-click adventures.

What is there to reconsider? I played the hell out of Morrowind. I got to level 47. Got all the Ebony and Deadric armor. Found a shield worth 200k. I just like Oblivion better.

I could use an intelligent game for the PC, or PS1. Been playing PC games for a while, could use another decent game. Anything intelligent, in depth. I just recently got a PS1, So I've only played a few games since then, and not too many before that.

Anyway, any intelligent or in-depth games for either would be appreciated. Don't worry if I may already have the game, just give me some suggestions, if you would. I want to know in your opinion what you woudl all an intelligent game.

Strategy games, Like the C&C series. RPG's, Like Baldur's Gate. Oblivion. Fallout series. Shooters, Like Half-Life.
I'd reccomend either the Penumbra series, or The Path (though it's fairly short).
Failing that, the condemned series is rather good too.

I love you, you are awesome! I've been saying that for a year or so now, and nobody agrees with me. I have to wonder why everyone gave it a 9.0 It did not deserve that score.
The battle system could have learnt alot from Arkans Studio's Dark Messiah FPS/rpg that used the source engine, in my honest opinion.
