Your question is so outrageously shocking that my monocle has fallen into my tea cup.
Good Lord! One can only hope you weren't in the smoking room of you local club/society when this dreadful breach of decorum occured or you may never be able to show your face to your fellows again. Not even in the steam baths should such shocking displays of emotion and monocle abuse be allowed to pass without comment. If this were indeed the situation I fear only a posting in the colonies for several years would allow the shame to fade to a point where you could reasonably be allowed to once again grace polite society.
That is so. You may be unaware of such legislation, but monocle-abuse is still punishable with death. That is why only the most experienced of monocle-users may be witnessed displaying their manifold talents in regards to the wearing of such monocles.

I myself have recently progressed from "Amateur Aficionado" to "Experienced Connoisseur" of monocle-wearing. I need only progress to "Gentleman" rank and, you bet your second shilling sir, I shall be taking this baby to the streets.

The UK wasn't a founding member of the EU.

It was set up in 1952 by France, Italy, West Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

Britain joined in 1975.

Just correcting an error there.
Was it not 1973? I might be wrong, that was just the year I thought we joined, along with Ireland and Denmark(?). It's been a while since I studied the EU so I may be a little off.

Anyway, I'm a Scot and I very much dislike the Scottish portrayal of England, like they're some arch enemy or something. You're so glad England did so badly in the World Cup? Your just bitter because you didn't even qualify! And you think the battle of Culloden was between Scots and English? Really?! Grrr...

That wasn't aimed at anybody in particular btw.

Well I only studied it last year, so it'd be pretty embarrassing if I'm wrong.

*checks*

Haha, you're totally right. It is '73, silly me.
