Hello Escapist dot com fellow members and future friends,

I am a new member of Escapist.com. I have joined because a friend of mine has dictated to me that I should do so, after he showed me a video made here complaining about Sim City Online.

I have not played Sim City since the one for the Super Nintendo was released. I do still enjoy that game, among others.

I am 22-years-old and I will be 23 beginning in April. I live in Virginia, and prior to living here I lived in California for my entire life. I moved out here because I received a reasonable job offer, and have been working here for the past 14 months. I will continue to work here for as long as it pleases me, at which point I will return to California to enjoy watching my nephews grow up and see my family again.

It will ultimately be my decision unless the HR department decides to fire me. I am not a wage slave and have no intentions of working somewhere that I do not enjoy, and I hope that the same is also true for you and your lives.

If you have any questions about me or my hobbies, you may ask them and I will answer most that are not too personal. I do wish to retain at least some level of anonymity.

If I have posted this thread in the wrong forum, please let me know. I am willing to delete this one and post the new one where ever it is asked of me.

I do hope that each of you have a nice day, and I will hopefully become great friends with you as time moves on.

Hallo SVilleca.

Welcome to the Escapist. I hope you enjoy your stay here and I do hope it's a long one at that.

Also, pay no attention to Topaz. The Red Button gives bonus 10 posts. And post counts are super important here. They deem how important you are.

Also, do visit the Forum Games. This is where the users become immortal. And we all love immortality.

ALSO, user groups. Find some, join 'em. Participate in 'em. Build srs cred. Become the Don.

TEH END.

Welcome to the Escapist, where you come for the content and stay for forum games the community. My only piece of advice for you is to do whatever you like within the Code of Conduct. Before you know it, you'll know the ins and outs of this place.

So, enjoy! And you have a nice day too ^_^.

Well hello there SVilleca. And welcome to the Escapist!

I'm one of the friendly forum moderators (you can identify us by our blue usernames).

As a mod, it's my civic duty to ensure you've read and understood da rules.
Do that, and you should be fine.

Enjoy your stay!

[small]Oh yeah, and don't click any red buttons, no matter how tempting it might be.[/small]
Hello TopazFusion,

I appreciate that you have taken the time out of your day to welcome me to your web site. I have enjoyed it so far - I am debating with another member about vanity already! That is a good start, I think. Hopefully I will have more conversations with you in time.

I have not seen any red buttons so far, unless you mean the PowerBall ad in the lower-right hand corner. The advertisement must think that I am a sucker, for the jackpot is only at $40 million and not nearly high enough to generate a positive expected value yet!

Welcome to the Escapist, SVilleca!

I see that Topaz already directed you to The Rules, but a few key pointers:

1. "Troll" is a taboo word here. I'm quite serious. It's forbidden. Check the CoC.

2. The spiral button is perfectly safe to push--nothing happens.

3. The Basement is currently off limits open for tourists!

4. Whenever anything goes wrong blame Kross! He's the Server Administrator World Breaker and is rightly feared at this site.

5. Remember that we Mods are gentle, soft spoken souls who would never harm anyone's feelings if we can avoid it!!!

Hi Nouw,

Thank you. I have not been on a very active web forum in quite some time, and am looking forward to making new friends.

Hello Copper Zen,

I can not find the rule that indicates that the word "troll" is banned. Can you please point me in the right direction?

I am normally not a big fan of accusing people of trolling, anyway, as I have usually seen it as an excuse to discredit people who hold unconventional opinions. I will not accuse anyone of it.

What is The Basement?

Thanks for the help, and thanks for welcoming me to your web site.

Well then, Forum Games is your place to go! It's quite a laid-back place where people mess around and get to know each other. Even better are User-Groups; try joining one for a game/anime/hobby you enjoy as a starting place.

From the CoC:

Flaming

Calling people names (or groups who may visit The Escapist), this includes calling others a troll

The reason I wanted to bring it to your attention--and why it's on our general Top 5 to 10 lists for us welcoming new Escapists--is that it's very commonly used in other sites. It's included into the CoC specifically to prevent bickering but people often miss it then end up with a Warning on their Health bar in no time (see your profile for your health bar).

And read the CoC guidelines about Low Content Warnings. From the poll numbers and comments on my thread (made before I was made a Moderator, btw) named Poll: You have a clean record. Excellent job, citizen! [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.402969-Poll-You-have-a-clean-record-Excellent-job-citizen#16638981] most Escapists who end up breaking the rules inadvertently do so because they broke the Low Content Warning.

PM me any questions you may have. Topaz is okay, too. Watch out for Moderator Eleuthera of the Advice Forum, though. He's been a little constipated this week. :p

EDIT: Those of us with our names in blue are Moderators, btw. We sometimes travel in packs. >.>

And just so you know--there's a white Okami wolf that runs loose around here some times. He tends to be followed or proceeded by a black cat. The wolf is flatulent and the cat's been sick for months. It's sad. :(

A 747 was halfway across the Atlantic when the captain got on the loud speaker, "Attention, passengers. We have lost one of RS Gold our engines, but we can certainly reach London with the three we have left. Unfortunately, we will arrive an hour late as a r esult."
Shortly thereafter, the passengers heard the captain's voice again, "Guess what, folks. We just lost our third engine, but please be assured we can fly with only one and to get MapleStory Mesos. We will now arrive in London three hours late."
At this point, one passenger became furious. "For D3 Gold Pete's sake," he shouted, "If we lose another engine, we'll be up here all night!"

^See this? This is a spam bot. You can tell by how off topic it is. Even though the joke might be okay. >.>

What do you do when you see one? See the Flag button right next to post and quote? Click it. That way one of the great red guards will quickly and justly eliminate it's limited existance.

Wassup, dude. Welcome to the site. Things are pretty chill here. I see you like Cowboy Bebop. That's cool. I prefer Samurai Champloo, myself, but Bebop is alright. Lots of different kinds of folks around here, though almost everyone is a nerd in some way. But this is a gaming website's forum after all.

Off-topic is probably my favorite forum here just because you can talk about literally anything except stuff covered by the other forums. But most importantly, try not to take things personally. I mean, it's the internet; if you take things personally here, you're doing it wrong.

Also, if you want a fancy gif as your avatar, just shake it on over to The Avatar Store Group [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/The-Avatar-Store-New-and-Second-Hand] and ask for one. As long as it fits the size limits, somebody there should be able to help you out. It's where I got mine.

Welcome SVilleca, I will be sure to enjoy you. Watch out for the Injustice League and Brovengers, they're probably the two most active social groups on this site and joining either might be a good idea if you want a relaxed setting to chat with the regulars.

This kind of greeting is still weird coming from you Topaz XD

It'll take awhile before I get used to your ascendence

Copper Zen said:
You too. XD

OT: I highly recommend joining some user groups. They're a lot of fun and a bit more informal than the general forums if you want to take a break for awhile.

Jojo and Tizzy already mentioned the Injustice League (join us!), and there are several other more specific user groups like the Miracle of Sound Fans (listen to that guy btw) and the Pony chat to cater to your interests.

If you want to know how to do neat forum code stuff Like making this blue or Making this [sub][sub][sub] Really small[/sub][/sub][/sub], Just quote another person that's done it in their post to see what they typed. You can also use the Forum mark up help page or just PM me. I'll be happy to help.

Enjoy your stay and be wary of the Red button. Seriously don't press it. The spinning button in my badge list is fine though :)

Welcome to The Escapist, friend! I don't have a great deal to add in terms of rules and such, but I'd just like to wish you a good time while you're here!
