A Heisenberg Gun.
It shoots concentrated Heisenberg Particles, effectively shooting any object in existence. It's as probable to shoot a globe at your enemy as it is to shoot a fish tank.
It's like the improbability drive, but weaponized! I'd personally like to see it shoot a sperm whale...
Mine fires small, 2mm darts of an extremely dense substance. It does so using a fraction of a gram of antimatter as propulsion, launching the dart forward at significant fractions of the speed of light. Its effective range is limited by the distance until the darts burn up in atmosphere, not the distance until they hit something, because most anything they hit will be penetrated easily and it'll just keep going. It's the ultimate sniper, and since the ammunition is so small a single person can carry thousands of rounds. This means it can have an extremely high fire rate, if needed.
Also, I'm rather partial to sonic weaponry that doesn't just disorient the enemy, it breaks them down at a molecular level, essentially turning them in the jelly from the inside out. Always fun to do.

I've always had an idea for a gun. I call it the DASAR (Double Action Security Assault Rifle).
Basically, I honestly don't know how it would work, but the gun can fire two types of rounds. It will have standard 5.56mm rounds for lethal force, but will also fire tranquilliser darts from another magazine/feeding mechanism elsewhere on the gun.
It will only fire when it and it's user are electronically authorised to do so by a central command, even then, central command can authorise tranquillisers only. Or, if the need arises, switch to lethal rounds.
In this case, it can be used by both domestic security forces and by the military.
Only thought is that what if the central command falls? Or what if it can't receive/send a signal? Does that mean the user is essentially S.O.L., or does it override itself and allow for use of force? What if the user is attacked with a lethal weapon and needs to defend himself instantly, but central command has only authorized tranqs, which don't work instantly? What if the whole thing is knocked out by an EMP?
Just a few thoughts from someone who spends way too much time thinking about weaponry.
