Can someone gag this little bastard for me? The amount of good it is trying to bring is making me sick.

Anyways, I think this is hilarious. Record time right?

Haha fucking Apple. Glad I don't buy into their trendy shit :p
Yea, overpriced and limited in everything. I mean (without jailbreak) you can only install apps from the appstore. And Apple checks every app to be nice for them. No multitasking, no USB. Well, it's Apple...they say that Mac OS is "the most advanced OS" and stuff like the iPad is revolutionary and has an unbeatable price. Damn, I mean the iPad is an oversized iPod Touch and I could get a NetBook with USB and free choice what I install on it for less.
In laymen's terms:
Apple = Lastgen Hardware in a nice case, for a nextgen price.
I can't keep enduring the ignorant anti-Apple stuff that is rather irrelevant to the OT. I have to finally call someone out, so I choose you.

The app store has a huge variety. OS X is highly more advanced and stable then Windows. Yes the products cost more but the hardware is top notch and their biggest notebook is light enough for me to lift with one hand, while my PC laptop has 1/10th the power and is a behemoth that I hate carrying because it weighs too damned much. Multitasking? I've ran two VMs between two logged in users while running apps in both as I used one of them to run more tasks. No USB? You mean LESS USB. Yes, the MacBook Pro has less ports, but it still has USB ports. It has four while my PC notebook has six. The iPad has the power of a minor computer in something the size and weight of an actual paper notebook, if not less then size and weight. I wouldn't mind having one. Also, have you used an iPod Touch? It's tiny and thin but has a fully functional browser, weight sensitivty (the "Accelerameter" is similar to the SIXAXIS in a PS3 controller and does just that) so if you hold it sideways the screen adjusts which can make the keyboard easier to work with and an excellent multimedia player function which has the little Genius gimick, so you can make a nice playlist with the touch of a button (I love this to no end). It also is excellent for storing photos, something I enjoy doing because I like showing pictures to people. My only complaints are that the Wi-Fi and games kill the battery pretty fast and it doesn't have a camera.

I used to hate Apple too...then I went into an Apple store. After an hour of using the Macbook Pro, I decided I was done buying PCs, parts for PCs, upgrades etc. With a VM and dual booting I can run Windows apps flawlessly without the hassle that comes with it. That lack of compatibility that OS X has? The side effect is that a lot of things that compromise security (namely viruses) on Windows don't work on OS X because the viruses aren't compatible with the Linux-based OS that it is.

Point is...don't go sounding off about how bad they are unless you actually use them. The Macbook Pro we've got was well worth the 2,000$ investment.

Anyway...OT: I don't think it was so much a quick fix, since it uses essentially the same OS they broke before, it was probably just a few minor changes to the crack they already had to make it work the same. Still pretty nice. The iPad will probably bring some nice homebrew since it has better hardware to work with. Imagine Doom 3 on a small pad. They already did Quake 3 with the iTouch and iPhone.

EDIT: Just in regards to the above, I'm not aiming for a flame war so much as I just want you to realize that Apple products are popular for a reason. I don't like the cocky pretentious Mac users or their commercials either, but the product itself is quite good.

What does Jailbroken mean?
It gives users almost complete access to their device's firmware, which allows them to use apps that Apple won't let on the app store so they have more control over their device

I may have an ipod touch but I would never use a mac or Ipad even if there was no other choice. The iPad looks ridiculous. Huge sum of money they can only do half the things a laptop can.

Some dude with seven posts just ninja'd me. How emasculating.

Linux rox.

America is all about two huge behemoths duking it out while some intrepid independents bide their time, knowing superior software and ease of modification will eventually win. Yes, the Mac vs. Microsoft and Democrat vs. Republican battles are both represented wonderfully by King Kong vs. Godzilla. Assign sides as you see fit.

I'm still trying to figure out why the hell Apple gets away with releasing devices like the iPhone and iPad that need to be jailbroken in the first place. Isn't the main reason to jailbreak your iPhone the ability to use it with another carrier? even if you purchased it outright. And then they pump down "updates" that basically destroy any "freed" products.

It's (barely) tolerable on gaming consoles because piracy is a real problem, and hey all your paying for is the ability to play games on them, but damn, it's a freaking phone and a freaking touch-screen laptop, you shouldn't need to hack them to use what you paid for however you damn well want.

I haven't owned an apple product since my old Apple II way back when, and I refuse to buy their crap now, sure it looks pretty, but objectively it's sold on "coolness" (dick) factor, not on the tech factor, you can buy better, cheaper, and more user-friendly devices from other companies. I own a creative MP3 player (you know the people who came out with MP3 players a decade before the iPod), an elcheapo mobile phone, and I'm looking forward to the HP Slate.

Why pay more for Steve Jobs' toys?

You know what kills me? People complaining about a product that they:
A: Never tried it.
B: Never owned it.
C. Say they'll NEVER own it.
D: Listen to hearsay and take their word as Bible.

I felt the same way about the iPad until I used one with a co-worker and I say it's pretty neat. If I had the money, I'd purchase one for art work instead of lugging around a huge art portfolio.

First, someone stated that there's no multi-tasking? Well by-George how WRONG you are. You can multi-task just as well on an iTouch/iPhone. Have your music playing and do other things at the same time, like browse the net. So please, before you start spouting off bullshit you didn't put work to validate your claim, find out.

Second, people getting pissed off at hackers and pirates when companies and the government use hackers all the time? Really? And not everything they do is legal. But it's okay because they're doing it for the "good of the people. Yeah, nice job. Also, ALL HACKERS don't go around making viruses. I don't know what 1990s propaganda you're still listening to, but I think you need to come to 2010. Some hackers do things in order to show all the loopholes and broken components, hardware and software that companies leave out. Some companies even appreciate when hackers find things for them to go back and fix. Also, PIRACY != HACKERS I don't know what gave you that impression, but you need to find another synonym that works.

I'm just sick and tired of "I hate this and I hate that" when yet again, people don't have legitimate reasons why they do. Did you hate the iPad because you truly hated it? Or are you being just as bad as the trendy mindless sheep and going along with hating it. Steve Jobs/Bill Gates does not have a gun to your head and saying, "BUY THIS PRODUCT TO SUPPORT MY COMPANY."

Did you really need to spend $199.99 for a 360 Arcade? Or $249.99 for your 360 Pro? Or maybe $299.99 for your Elite/PS3? And guess what? Or what about that new release game/movie/album? Did you get those things cause you wanted to? Or because of how overly hyped it was?

But PS3 and 360....Those things aren't portable. We're not even including all the accessories and games you kick out in order to play these games as well. Or even those that went out to buy a PSP Go? But did your Fanboyism for either Microsoft/Sony coax you into getting one? Or did you get it despite what others say? That's what people that use Apple do.

Some people get it for trend reasons. Some get it for the functionality and capability. Microsoft is not a consumer-friendly OS. You have to have some brain in order to really use one know half of its capabilities. Hell, some people don't know how to use Ctrl+C still. Or that Alt+<- sends you to the previous page. So just stop with all this Apple bashing. You're not any better than all that "I hate Microsoft/Sony/Obama/Democrats/Republicans" cause I was told so.

Yeah that's right, I said it. You're just as bad as the so-called "mindless sheep" that go around and buying Apple products for trend reasons. Now excuse me as I use my iTouch to listen to music and IM people in class. And yeah, at the same time.

Edit: Also, companies like Apple make things proprietary hardware/software cause they're a COMPANY MAKING MONEY. Stupid for marketing, but their sales say otherwise. http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2009/01/21results.html

Trust me, reading their website won't hypnotize you buy their products, I promise.

I jailbroke my iPod Touch so I could run games emulators. Final Fantasy VII (which I own the discs of, by the way) was a great reason to jailbreak, and I can play wherever.

However, I have a touch screen laptop that can run Foobar, Skype, and Firefox all simultaneously. I don't see a gap between my two hardwares that the iPad would fill. To me, it is about as useful as a stone.

I don't /hate/ the iPad as such; I just think it is a really stupid invention. My laptop has Wacom. If anyone wants to do something professional, then they'll avoid the Pad in favour of this.

So, I'll keep running my emulators, and using my touch screen that's quality enough to paint on.

Lesson of the Day: Do not think your product is un-hackable. If it can be made, it can be broken.

You make an interesting point. The only thing I didn't agree with was your statement about Microsoft not being a consumer friendly OS. Most people may not know the advanced functions like the keyboard shortcuts but those functions are usually found in the menu of the program you are using and seen people easily find those. Not saying you are wrong but I don't believe Windows is that hard to figure out, even if you don't know all of the advanced functions. I got to play with the iPad recently, its a beautiful device but in the end I felt like I was playing with an iPod Touch that was given a Mushroom from Super Mario Bros.

let's see it got jailbroken in one day, and yet this SURPRISES people? seriously, it's a oversized i-phone minus the phone aspect, and those have been out long enough to hack, and apple being a big corporation, does as all people do, re-use apps from one product for use on the new product, (a good example being any windows after windows 2k since they all pretty much use the tech from old windows NT) so really, no big damned surprise, it's just an apple app station so you can use all the apps from the i-phone on a bigger screen, well minus actually making a call.

I always wondered if the "Mac vs PC" commercials would pan out at the end to reveal a Neo look-alike who would then state, "I'm Linux... And it's all a lie." Ralph Nader would work too, I suppose.

Also out of all the Apple haters how many of you have a valid reason and how many are just jumping on the bandwagon?
Valid reason here, at least. They directly oppose the GNU General Public License and all freeware released under it, which I work tirelessly to support and improve. Mostly because, at least in my opinion, you shouldn't have to pay for your OS, your web browser or certain tools (mostly the "Office" type software).

I'm perfectly willing to support companies like Adobe (who release certain of their software for free (Adobe PDF Reader and Adobe Flash Player, notably) and you're really paying for quality with their other products), but Apple tried to get the Free Sotware Federation shut down on the premise that "they're costing us millions in revenue." Any company that complains about "losing revenue" to freeware when they're making trillions every year deserves neither your money nor your loyalty.

I've said this before, but the second Steam announces support for Ubuntu-style Linux, Windows XP is gone from my computer.
