IRN BRU: What is this stuff?

It's the devil. I get headaches from caffeine, one small glass of that and I could barely hold my head up.

But in all fairness, it's actually very tasty. Sugary, packed full of caffeine.. It's like the bastard child of Fanta/orange fizzy drink, creamy soda, Coke and crack cocaine.

.. I recommend it.

Do you live anywhere near a Fiesta Supermarket (maybe that's just a Texas thing...)? They sell it, as do pretty much any british import stores in your area.

I only heard of it/tried it last year. So deadly, but so good. I don't even want to think about trying it mixed, or I might die.

It's available in some stores in Australia, but I'm not sure about other countries, apart from the obvious Scotland.. Lucky bastards.

Anyone else know?

I like the IRN BRU chew bars. If you've never had one imagine a 2 litre bottle of IRN BRU condensed into a small chew bar. You get Diabetes just from looking at it, and it is delicious!

It was 'Iron Brew' until trading standards got on their case because it is not brewed and does not contain iron.

Well, it does contain ammonium ferric citrate, but that's a miniscule portion of iron.

Alright; 'does not contain enough iron to justify having Iron in its name' then.

Irn Bru is made from sugur and magic. according to the advert it gives you super strenght. which is always handy

I have found that the only way to describe the taste to Aliens, Americans, the English and other poor, deprived people is "a bit like bubble gum mixed with caffine".

You can also buy (or at least, used to be able to buy) Concentrated IRN BRU (the stuff used in those skooshy-gun drinks mixers in bars) and mix it at home with carbonated water. Totally pointless if you live in Scotland, but you can ship the concentrate overseas much cheaper than the equivalent amount of pre-mixed stuff.
