Dear boy, I love this post. It's a disappointing truth that too few know of the wonders of the Bru. Irn Bru is like drinking fucking Scotland itself.

In fact, it's more than that. Drinking Irn Bru makes me proud to have entirely Scottish forefathers, to know I'm part of a Clan, to know that my people died for this most godly of beverages.

You sir, are an Irn Bro.

Captcha: sick puppy. Yet another thing Irn Bru is designed to heal.

I... I...
I'm afraid I have no idea what you're talking about. I don't even know what this " Irn Bru" stuff is.

Is it alcohol? Soft drink? Something else?

The name Irn-Bru is said to have originated during the re-building of Glasgow Central Station in 1901. When workers from the William Beardmore and Company Steel Works in Glasgow were dying from the large amounts of beer drunk to quench their thirst from the heat of the steel works, an alternative was sought. A local soft drinks manufacturer, A.G. Barr, approached the steel works and a contract was created to provide the workers with this drink. This unnamed drink later went on to be known as Iron Brew because of its connections to the steel (and iron) works.[citation needed]
If this is true, and the citation needed tag isn't hiding a horrible lie, god bless Scotland. Any country whose solution to thirsty workers dying of alcohol poisoning is replacing the beer with a soda instead of, I don't know, water, is awesome in my book. Makes me proud that a good chunk of my ancestry is Scottish.

irn bru is fine. each swig is like a carbonated dose of orangey goodness from mother earth's rockery. it's one of the best things scotland has to offer. there are bad points about scotland too.

good:
irn bru, frankie boyle, kevin bridges, interesting landscapes, truly astounding beards.

bad:
that one scottish guy on xbox live that gets a few american guys to be angry at the english guy (me), angry people, the weather. somehow it's worse than england's weather

I saw that ad once about 3 years ago, never saw it again. Thank you for giving me the second chance I always wanted.

Even I, in all my half English/half Irish-ness, have to bow down to the superiority of Scotland in the soft drinks world. Irn Bru will blow you fucking mind! If this drink could talk, surely it would say (in a broad Glaswegian accent) "What're yoo lookin' at yoo fuck?"

That said, no one, and I mean no one, can beat the Irish when it comes to alcohol. Russia? ***** please.

Did you know the e number in IRN BRU is known to cause hart attacks, which is how you know it is a Scottish thing 'cos as Marcus Brigstock said "Scotland is totally unafraid of scurvy and I admire that! Only the Scots would Scotch an egg, "you know what that egg needs? MEAT AND BATTER!"".

I used to be addicted to that stuff, I was on about a 2LTR bottle a day ...

Finally one of your food threads I can get behind!

once in cadets we pissed in someones iron bru...they didnt notice the difference

so yeh, i hate iron bru, but lucazade is the good stuff because it actually works well as an energy drink
I read in the newspaper that Lucozade contains more calories than you're burning during exercise, they're meant for athletes and if your exercising it's best to drink water. I think I read it in the Mirror.
I find that it gives you short burst's of isometric energy, followed by a long lasting sugar high which i find useful when im exercising, trekking, fighting or playing but im not worried about losing weight as im already in shape i just train muscular power, muscular endurance and cardio-vascular with a tiny bit of muscular strength so i find it useful.

If you're trying to lose weight you should't be using any energy drink at all, i dont fully believe that lucazade contains more calories than i burn as it really depends how hard you work and im always destroyed and hungry after exercise, however those calories it is giving you should be avoided if you are fat burning because it just creates more work burning of those calories and getting rid of the sugar.

its like eating cake and chocolate during weight loss exercise, makes no sense
