It wasn't until a few days ago that I realized I had a few irrational fears and most of them include things in water. One of my irrational fears is that I am scared of buoys. Not the buoy itself but the chain/slab of cement attached to the buoy. I am afraid that if I get close to it that the chain will somehow wrap around my leg and that I won't be able to get it off.
I also have a fear of shipwrecks. I think it has the same thing to do with the buoy thing. That my foot will get caught on something and that I will get dragged down. I seen a picture of the USS Arizona where the top half can still be seen even though it sank and the picture frightens me because of all the stuff someone could get their foot stuck on.
I am pretty sure I developed these fears when I was younger when I was about seven or eight years old. I was at the beach and the water was pretty dirty and I tripped over some type of metal thing and it really freaked me out.
Does anyone else have any irrational fears? How did you develop the fear?
