2 things:s69-5 said:To respond to the penny arcade article, is it really worth the price tag to get cross game chat and a "better" invite system?
I'll take my free PSN any day.
OP: Depends on how you look at it. When a competitor offers a comparable service for the low cost of $0.00, then a price hike is in poor taste. A tiered system like the one offered on PSN (PSN+) may be more appropriate.
Well people like me can wait for 10 more minutes if if means I can can hae an extra $60 to buy a game. PSN has a wide variety of exclusive ad mulitplatform titles and so does the 360. Where is it justifyable (?) to make me pay $60 to have a party up option and cross game chat? I don't get how PSN is horrible it basically has everything XBL has. Elaborate?Hardcore_gamer said:Except that its not really comparable. I own both a PS3 and a Xbox 360, and I think PSN is inferior in almost every way possible from the services provided to the download speed (PSN has horrible download speeds compared to XL).s69-5 said:OP: Depends on how you look at it. Pretty much this. Xbox Live (and gaming in general) is a hobby, nothing more. This isn't something you're required to have. If you can afford it, great! If not, find an alternative.dogstile said:Its not a big deal. The main people who're complaining are probably without a job and still in school, or a student who can't afford it. In which case, i have this to say to you...
DON'T USE IT.
Im sorry, it's not comparable, it doesn't even offer the same baseline features.s69-5 said:To respond to the penny arcade article, is it really worth the price tag to get cross game chat and a "better" invite system?

I don't care for that kind of explanation. "Its just better" doesn't do anything for me. I never had to wait an hour for any update. The longest system update being 20 min and the longest game update (fucking Bioshcok 2) and installation being 15 minutes. Tell me the features that make this totally worth paying $60 to M$ rather than towards a game developer.Hardcore_gamer said:10 minutes? There have been times where I bought a new PS3 game, brought it home and inserted it into my PS3 only to find out I had to download a system update, and then a few patches for the game as well afterward, with the total process taking over a hour and a half. I literally have never had to spend more then 10 min on a update for the Xbox 360.IamSofaKingRaw said:Well people like me can wait for 10 more minutes if if means I can can hae an extra $60 to buy a game.
Basically, Xbox live is just everything the PSN is but faster and better. Also, XBL keeps its gamer servers alive for longer.
I have had my 360 since launch and never once had issues with it, not even a RRoD. Doesn't mean others haven't.IamSofaKingRaw said:I don't care for that kind of explanation. The servers for all the PS games I play have never fucked over and made me incapable of playing a game.
I was told it did have something like that.Eldritch Warlord said:Honestly it amazes me that PSN still doesn't have an equivalent to LIVE's party system, I probably use that more than I use my 360 for gaming.
Yeah, seriously Andy. Where are you getting your smokes? I'm paying close to $20 for three packs.T0RD said:Wow, here we pay about 15-25 dollar per package. Sheesh.AndyFromMonday said:$10 gives me 3 packs of cigarettes. Yeah, it's a pretty big deal.
Uncalled for comment here? That's kinda missing the point of the topic here...RowdyRodimus said:No, the increase isn't that big of a deal. What most are bitching about is that it's $10 a year more to Microsoft. If Steam started charging extra for the ability to use the service they wouldn't have a problem with it. It's double standards and hypocrisy that some companies are ok to want to make a profit and it's wrong for others just based on what the rules of the "indie cred" movement says.
It's £5-6 pounds here in the UK.AndyFromMonday said:Where the hell are you from? Here it's $3 a pack. That is, unless you buy Dunhill which is a bit more expensive but still, $15 for a pack? That's just insane man.
It's true, our incomes are completely different when compared to Western Europe. One of the many reasons why I've decided to move to Canada.Lyri said:It's £5-6 pounds here in the UK.AndyFromMonday said:Where the hell are you from? Here it's $3 a pack. I see you're eastern European, doesn't surprise me it's cheaper over there.
Good choice, I'd love to move there myself.AndyFromMonday said:It's true, our incomes are completely different when compared to Western Europe. One of the many reasons why I've decided to move to Canada.
Not really when there are comments saying that Steam is a better service in the topic. I used Steam as an example because the people that like it would goladly pay it just like the people that like XBL Gold will (mostly) happily pay the extra .83 cents a month. What I meant about double standards is that (since I mentioned Steam I'll use Valve as an example) a lot of people don't like Microsoft (some replacing the "s" with a $) making a profit, but have no problem with Valve trying to make a profit.AceAngel said:Uncalled for comment here?
