Is 2010 going to be the best year for games yet?

They said 07 would be the best; and it sucked. They said 08 would be the best; and it sucked. They said 09 would be the best; and it was horse shit with the exception of the PS3. They say 010 will be the best....and it will probably be another overhyped crap fest with derivative clone after derivative sequel. At least Mass Effect 2, The Last Guardian and Heavy Rain look original.

Whether or not 2010 will be the best year for games will largely depend on whether or not Wii Zelda will be available this year, and if it will truly top OoT.

But seriously, 2010 does look to be a hell of a year, especially the first quarter alone. I have the sneaking suspicion that many people are going to forgo food and paying bills in order to afford all the games the want.

Yeah, there are other games besides the 3 I mentioned, but I'm a poor college student: I had to prioritize, and those three are the ones I chose. Otherwise I would have played Assassin's Creed 2, Modern Warfare 2, Borderlands, Dragon Age, Scribblenauts, and a few others by now.

Should be pretty awesome.

Best? No, probably not. Best was either 2006 or 1998.

But next year is looking to be great especially early on.

Bioshock 2, White Knight Chronicles, Heavy Rain, Bayonetta, Fallout New Vegas, God of War III, Dante's Inferno, Last Guardian (hopefully), Final Fantasy XII (and maybe Versus), Dead Space II, Dead Rising 2, and Darksiders (Fuck Yeah!!) I believe it will be quite an awesome year indeed.

Interestingly though, this might be the year that finally makes me want a PS3 though. I've been teetering on the edge with Demon's Soul's and Little Big Planet out there, but with motherfucking HARD RAIN coming out among other slightly less interesting fair, I might spring for it.

Anyway 2010 looks to be a pretty good year what with Bioshock 2, Heavy Rain, Red Dead Redemption and whole lot of other stuff coming out.

Probably not better than 2004 though: Burnout 3, GTA San Andreas, Katamari Damacy, Dawn of War 1?
That was the year gaming peaked... so far. That was also the peak of the GTA and Burnout franchises.

It would be great to have another year like that but I don't get my hopes up.

While I must admit next year has some good titles planned to be released, everything seemed to erupt around October-December this year, in terms of a shitstorm of quality stuff.

I'm fairly sure a Stolen Pixels comic brings light to this point. XD

First of all i have to say how crap I've found this year. The only game I've really enjoyed was Dragon Ages. Empire, Overlord and Sims really disappointed me especially with how much I was looking forward to the first two. 2010 looks a lot better with January 28th not comming soon enougth for my likeing and New Vegas will hopefully enthrall me as much as its sister did this year. I was still playing Fallout in June and still finding new stuff.

Being a little optimistic there, buddy. Don't get me wrong, I love the game so much I'd sacrafice my children's souls to it, but it isn't exactly the height of longevity. I bought it the day it came out and traded it in a week later, after doing everything.
