1 - yes, i drink quite a lot of coffee
2 - i drink it pretty much every day
3- 4 a day is not too much, i'd say its the average. however 3 before work is a little crazy.

bear in mind, all those who say 4 is too much, think how many cans of soda or how much tea you drink.

Hot coffee-flavoured caffiene is part of my body's booting process every morning. I leave it at one before work, and if i need a nice hot cup of something later, I have a tea.

As for 4 cups. like everyone here I think it depends on how big and what kind of coffee etc.

I am a regular coffee drinker, recently a friend asked me how much much I drink a day, I told him 4 cups (3 before I get to work and one in my lunch break). He told me that that was mental. These are my questions.

-Do you drink coffee?
-If yes, how frequently? (per week, per day, per month, ect...)
-is 4 in a day really that mental?

I'm honestly interested on the general public opinion on this.

It entirely depends on what kind of work you do, i'm a support worker dealing with peeps with mental health problems an I do 12 hour shifts, now this involves an unholy amount of coffee, a rough average ofhow many cups I have a day would be 15-16 (if im on my days off it goes dramatically down to 2 or 3 cups) and there are a few guys that drinkmore of it than me. I reckon that its only mental if you drink more than you can handle, i'm assuming you can handle more than 4 right? or if you make it using 4 spoons of coffee no milk an 6 sugars like my mate isaac does, other than those things, no I wouldn't consider what you do mental at all

Yup.

You can actually make yourself allergic to caffeine if you become to dependent on it.

I'd cut back pretty hard if I were you.
It also starts messing with your pancreas.

If I remember correctly, a coffee can have anywhere of 50-100mg of caffeine and you need over 300 minimum to be addicted. So no, it's not too much.

I don't drink coffee. I used to drink quite a bit but I got frustrated as all I can drink is a pure, short black espresso with freshly ground beans and it's a tedious process to go through every time I want a drink.

Those 2 girls shared one cup, they did fine!

and *pukes*

I normally drink a pot of fresh coffee, and that's too much, I don't like it per say, just I do it... cause I'm an addict I guess.

when i am at work i drink about 3 cups an hour, thats an unhealthy amount. but 4 cups a day isnt anywhere near bad.

I think it's normal.

But on the other hand: I used to drink 1l coffee for breakfast (no joke) and reduced it by now to about 1l +- 250ml per day. So I may not be able to judge.

BTT: I wouldn't worry.

- Yes
- One cup before work, three cups during work, about two cups after (depending when I get home and if it's a friday (in which case I drink about 4 after work). So around 6-8 per day. I tend to drink less on the weekends.
- No, I drink more than that. 4 cups is fine.

I love coffee either a long black or a latte (depends on where I'm buying it, it's hard to get a good long black)

For a while I was drinking one or two a day sometimes 3 (these are tall cups). Though lately I'm back to one a day and less than 5 a week. I cut back or tried to because I noticed my heart going crazy every time I went to the gym or walked up and hill and apparently it's pretty bad for your immune system and I tend to feel a bit nauseous if I drink more than three shots close together.

Recently one of my lecturers told me something a long the lines of "Men who drink 8 cups a day are more likely to have a healthy prostate." I also work in a coffee house most people only drink 2 a day but we have about 3 or 4 people who drink around 3 or 4 cups of coffee. I don't think it's mental but it's probably bad for you at least a bit, though more power to you! :p

Do I drink coffee? Well I used to, but I had to stop becuase I had a period of 4 weeks in which I didn't fall asleep and now I'm restricting my caffeine intake (By having none) this also is influenced by the time where I kept getting intestinal cramps and vomiting when I ingested caffiene...

The frequency I had it at was 2-5 cups a day (I also drank about a litre of Pepsi Max aswell while often having 1-3 cans of Relentless (High caffiene content, 32mg per 100ml and comes in cans that are 500ml))

No 4 a day isn't too mental, but depending on how long you spend between getting up and going to work that 3 you have could be something worrying. My dad has like 5-6 cups of coffee a day (It's all he drinks unless he is in a raid, where he has Pepsi because it's quicker to get)

Don't worry about the amount you drink, the time you know you have too much is obvious (You start having trouble sleeping or such)

...Why did I think "8 girls 4 cups"?
WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?!

I only drink coffee when I have serious trouble staying awake and a throat-burning burst of sugar and caffeine works out great.
About twice a month, I think.
4 cups a day is really a lot, but I don't think it's crazy in any way.

One cup each day is too much. Caffeine is not a narcotic that you should inject regularly. The same applies to almost all narcotics.

Caffeine does NOT effect your attention, what it does do is block some secondary cell messengers which has the overall effect of reducing the tiredness you fell though this takes up to 1 hour to gain full effect.

OT: I have one in the morning as I like the placebo effect and then a few throughout the day. 4 is not excessive for store bought freeze dried stuff, but as others have said 4 espressos would be.

I drink anywhere between 1 and 3 cups a day but I wouldn't say 4 is unhealthy unless they are really strong. My dad regularly has 4 a day.

Maybe having 3 in one go might not be too good.

1. Yes.
2. 2/3/4 cups a day.
3. Pfft... no. It's not exactly petrol or Absinthe. People are so worried about every little health thing these days. It's silly.

4 a day isn't bad but 3 before work is a lot in a short amount of time (assuming you start work early in the morning)
