Is 7/10 a low score to give Killzone 2?

It's been a while since I picked up a copy of EDGE but their review scores have always been tougher than most.
I've always trusted them, and their reviews only. Most others are either biased in the first place, or get carried away in the hype machine.

I think part of the reason is that they are an Industry magazine. Not just aimed at gamers.

How many 9/10s or 10/10s do we see each year? A 10/10 game would be a time less classic with no flaws.

EDGE has only ever given out 13 "10 out of tens"
Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64) - E35 (1996)
Gran Turismo (Sony PlayStation) - E55 (1997)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64) - E66 (1998)
Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox) - E105 (2001)
Half-Life 2 (Windows PC) - E143 (2004)
Halo 3 (Xbox 360) - E181 (2007)
The Orange Box (Windows PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) - E182 (2007)
Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - E183 (2007)
Grand Theft Auto IV (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) - E189 (2008)
LittleBigPlanet (PlayStation 3) - E195 (2008)

Elite (originally released in 1984)
Exile (originally released in 1988)
Super Mario Bros. (originally released in 1985)
These 3 were given posthumous ratings as they were released before EDGE started.

They've been going for over 15years. Thats less than one 10/10 a year
So... 7 out of 10 doesnt look too shabby to me. If it really bothers you I suggest you dont read EDGE
it's just not for you.

Thats probably one of the dumbest analogies I have ever heard in my life. Here's that anaolgy if it made sense - lets take a recipe for a cake. We follow it to the letter, but we make sure that everything we use is of the highest quality - we get the best flour, the finest eggs, the sweetest sugar, the grandest chocolate, and so on. We don't add anything to the recipe, we just make sure that everything in there is the best. Now, we taste it. How does it taste? Exactly like you'd think it would taste - like the best cake in the world.
Except it wouldn't taste like the "best cake in the world". It would taste like a very refined ordinary cake. A better recipe would give a better result, even if the ingredients weren't of the same quality. It's about being more than just the sum of its parts.
True, but there are are 2 big problems here...

1. There is no better recipe yet, you'll have to invent a better recipe. This is a risk. The new invented recipe could either be better, or be worse. Innovation in a game could backfire, be sucky.

2. Not everyone has had enough of the 'known' taste of cake. A lot of people prefer a refined-tasting version of the cake they know than a innovative-tasting unknown cake. Generally only the hardcore audience, who ate lots and lots of cake already, doesn't like that "refined ordinary" taste

Stop the cake analogies.
Do you know why we argue here? A group of people dont accept this game as the best, on the same level as the greatest games of all time.

We do not say the game is bad, we even sy the game is above average, good, very good.
We just say that this isnt on the same level like Portal.

From what ive seen, it is like half-life2: extremely nice game, very immersive, nice graphics (ok maybe that isnt half-life 2 here xD) but bland when it comes to details such as weapons or the overall graphic theme.
