I have played shooters since 007 for the N64 and to tell you the truth, I am so tired by the generic shooters that companies repackage and resell over and over again, I mean look at MW2 and MW3 they look almost exactly the same. The only difference between the two are campaign and guns. But for games such as Battlefield, I have to give props to the people who made the Frostbite 2 Engine. I mean I still like shooters that have a good storyline and have decent multiplayer/art style, such as games like Bioshock, Fallout, etc., But even the good games get extremely overlooked when AAA shooters come out around the same time. I mean any one remember Brink? I mean sure, open day release there were imperfections one of course being lag, but atleast they are giving it after release fixes. I mean with Black Ops, there wasn't much post-launch fixes, but instead a bunch of MAP PACKS, I dont want map packs that will equal to the cost of the game if there is absoloutly no post-launch support. Look at DICE for example they came out with map packs sure, but they were just different game modes of the same maps, and instead went out and fixed things in game, and the map packs were free, and there was a counter to everything.Even magnum ammo takes a decent ammount of bullets to kill someone with body armor. I dont remember the counter to Grenade Launchers in MW2.

Well the only way we'll stop getting COD games and games similar to it is by not buying them which won't happen soon. I mean look at the MW2 boycott on steam, half of those idiots ended up buying the game anyway.

COD is a basic well running entry level shooter that can be enjoyed by many. I personally don't like it much but my problem isn't with COD itself but every other FPS dev thinking they have to be like COD now.

Because a lot of people will lap up the generic CoD type of shooter and constantly piss their money into the dev pot for basically giving them exactly the same game over and over but with different skins.

While those type of shooters are going to bring in the money we won't get anything new.

Take Bulletstorm for example.

I loved it, get to shoot things and kill in all weird and wonderful ways but it didn't sell very well.

Shooters are in the same rut MMO's are in.

They all copy the same format because it sells and no one will do anything new.
