Change? I'm going to go out on a limb and bet it's just another episode of "Grizzle T. McGrizzlington: Surly Gunman Adventures". Yawn.

No. It looks kind of generic, except for an exceptionally retarded story.

Nah.

The developers have made some interesting noises. Stuff about depicting the human cost and moral ambiguity of war, giving actual weight to the act of killing and so forth.

But I'm pretty damn sure that's just marketing speak. I give it 95% chance of being yet another fucking FPS explosion-fest about Mr Super American shooting evil jabbering forigners in the face.

I am, I think if they handle the bleakness of the story well it could be quite compelling. Plus Dedicated Servers for Multiplayer on console as well as PC, combined with the BP system and I'm quite intrigued.

This is one I'll probably buy a little while after release. I'm not interested enough to pre-order or anything, so I may as well see what others think first.

It really doesn't look all that revolutionary...

A couple of my friends think it looks neat, but I'll probably pass it up for Portal 2, DNF, Infamous 2, not to mention the crazy legion of games coming in the Fall.

I think I'm looking forward to the smoothness of things the most. The multiplayer looks lag free, and god knows how much I hate lag.

Considering the game touts itself as being a 'what if your homeland was invaded' scenario, i-... oh wait, i'm British, not American. There goes the USP.

No, i'm not excited for it. It might be a fun little shooter. Maybe something to rent or pick up when it drops to £20. I'm not excpecting anything revolutionary from it. Certainly not a COD killer. If it turns out to be a competent FPS, then i'm happy, it's all i can really ask for and expect.

I'm pretty psyched for it, but I'm not going to get it on launch day. Too many better games come out around the same time, so it'll probably just be a rental for me.

See, even thought I'm American this is partially how I feel. Because I know this isn't really America being invaded. This is bizzaro world America where somehow we managed to fuck up so bad that North Korea is pushing us around. I don't care what happens in the next 20 years; short of almost every major super power blowing themselves up, North Korea is not going to take over the USA. So one of the selling points of the game is lost on me because their plot is completley implausible, when they're trying to sell it as if it's not.

Don't get why they didn't just make China the boogeyman. Granted China taking over the USA doesn't make much sense either but anything is better than fucking North Korea.

It looks like a cheap knock-off of a CoD, with a well thought-out (so one thing better than CoD), yet completely moronic story.

RPS preview was also fairly dire.

I'm most looking forward to Crysis 2, in terms of straight out shooters. Alright, in the broader scheme of things, it's aliens invading New York, but they've got two highly-received Sci-fi authors working on the story, and whilst it's also men in big muscle-y power-suits, they're also suits that drastically differentiate it from other shooters.

I would agree with you on Brink though, I'm keeping a close eye on it. The one thing I can't get my head around is that outside of the parkour, movement looks unbelievably sluggish. Just doesn't seem to gel well, but we'll see.

Hopefully we'll get a release date for Deus Ex: Human Revolution soon, but I don't count that as a shooter.

I am not sure how to feel about it. But I will say that I have been waiting for another FREEDOM FIGHTERS for a long time. The story line in FF was the same but instead of NK it was Russia. Russia comes sailing into the NY harbor and takes over America and a plumber armed with his trusty pipe wrench save the world. It was ludicrous! However the overall production of the game made it one of my favorites of all time.... at least in the realm of America gets invaded category.

So I am excited about it but I have my reservations. Turning Point tried to be the new FREEDOM FIGHTERS and failed miserably at it. But hey here's to hoping that this is something special.

I wish America wouldn't have to wait 20 some odd years for a second revolution.... I am free on today and would be more than willing to take up arms with my brethren and take back my humanity. Fuck my country.....I want my humanity back.

I dunno, I thought the sequence in MW2 where you're fighting in DC was pretty powerful, and there are lot of great landmarks in America that would look to be set aflame and would make excellent looking battlegrounds. Not many shooters have been set in America and I really hope they take advantage of that.

That said, for 50 bucks, no, I'll wait til I read some reviews about the content and probably buy it during the Steam summer sale.

Deus Ex is coming out March 3rd, I believe. Same day as Dragon Age II.

OT: No, I'm not excited. It looks exactly like CoD. I'll wait for reviews, and then decide whether or not to buy it afterwards.
