...You seem to have spent pretty much no time looking outside the harem part of the cast. Sure, the most prominent characters are like that, but not all of them. Just take a look at Dracosa again.

While I myself love me a good waifu war...

...I can see what the OP is getting at, and why some of the suggestions here might be missing the point. Yeah, Asui's design is incredibly simplistic, but I think that's the main reason it jumped out at me so much when I first saw her. Her head is modeled after that of a cartoon frog like you'd find in any anime, or perhaps even certain Warner Bros cartoons, she has big dumb hands and feet and she doesn't emote very much. Rather than tacking animal parts on someone, or being specifically designed to titillate, she literally just looks like a frog got bored and decided to spontaneously evolve into a human. Hell, her whole family is like that:

https://40.media.tumblr.com/08a2ca4c4129697c6b66b5c3ad40c8e7/tumblr_o4kgm0TMVb1v36xtao1_500.png

I think it's kinda cool. Y'know, in a less-is-more kinda way. The viewer isn't smacked in the face with their froginess. You can immediately tell they're frogs granted you know how the Japanese draw cartoony frogs. It's also why I like the Inkling designs from Splatoon as well, since we're on the subject. Is it the best? <link=http://orig03.deviantart.net/6f8b/f/2015/272/3/1/muffet_from_undertale_by_lethalauroramage-d9bdt5m.png>Hell no... but I consider it pretty up there.

Curses, the age-old mistake! Mixing up not knowing and not caring.

On the one hand, I'm pretty sure the designers of Senran Kagura are perfectly aware that the female water balloons of life do not, in fact, move like actual water balloons. Especially not when you so much as turn slightly, and especially, especially not when wearing a <link=https://otakurepublic.com/media/binary/000/559/708/5004329.jpg>multilayered, button-clad uniform that is almost certainly made out of a sturdy, rigid, snugly fitting material.

Ooonn the other hand... I'm pretty sure if you were to inform them of such, their response would most likey be a unanimous "so...?"

I seen a lot of anime and my main problem with monster girls is that most of the time they are regular cute girls with animal or insect part of their body. But with Asui Tsuyu I feel as if thought was put into her design.

What do you think
With a quick read of the Baku No Hero Academia Wiki I will say she is not a monster girl; She is a mutant similar to any character in the X-men. She is a unique singular being whilst monster girls are part of a species (centaur, Lamia, Arachne, Drider etc.)

In all honesty she is more the female anime equivalent to Marvel's Toad.

That's why I'm shaking them. It's hard to give a unanimous 'so?' when you're being vigorously shaked by a large, angry man.

Honestly, I'm well aware most of the terrible, terrible breast representations are a result of author appeal (or otaku appeal - gotta score that narrow market!), but that'll never stop me criticizing the absolute hell out of it for being an awful choice for character design and something that really shouldn't've become so common.

It's like the easiest way to make a character boring these days, just slap a pair of GGG cups on 'em.

I wonder about the definition, logiclly monster girls can't be gods, angels or demons, since it's upper tier, cat girls (or variants) can apply if their roots are malicious in some way, but just ordinary "humans with ears" can't be monster girls.

So with that I'd choose a monster girl so horrifying she was prisoned in a painted world due to her dangers:
I am so hoping there's a mini of her for the board game.

would also say Adorea/Gavrill from Franken Fran but I guess they don't count really, being the result of mad science instead of natural monsters

The one you're replying to also seems to have entirely missed the point that most of said girls are shoutouts to popular perception of classical mythological creatures. The popular perception of Lamias IS that they are a woman but serpentine below the waist (in that respect Miia is arguably more monster girl than the popular mythological perception given that parts of the rest of her have indications too). Centaurs, in mythology, literally are the upper body of a human and the lower of a horse. Harpies are, again in popular views of the mythology, the body and head of a human with wings for arms and legs of a bird.

It seems somewhat absurd to complain about this when they literally are going for the popular public perceptions of monstrous human-based mythological entities.

To be fair I seen both Lamias and Harpies to be more monstrus

It was actually a jab towards the assumption that every girl in MonMusu automatically has huge tits. Like I'm very helpfully pointing out, you only need to look a little away from the most prominent examples.

That is a very weak argument.

I have read the entire manga that is currently translated, and pointing to side characters in one, maybe 2, chapters that "break the norm" of that very manga is very weak.

there are (from my recollection):

snake
horse
harpy
spider
mermaid
slime
zombie
ogre
cyclops
doppelganger
kobold
lizard
dragon
plant
cow (minotaur)
satyr
dullahan
cat
2 winged things possibly succubi, smaller one might be an imp as they are a trickster. Rachne goes s&m on her.
9 tails fox

possibly more. And lets not forget that within this series all the males, possibly as a running joke, are all much more on the animal side and ugly, like the centaur males, orcs, and mermen. With a majority of women being big boobed babes, and an even larger majority being human with a part glued on. So it is VERY fair to say Okayodo is playing it conservative with the "monster" bit of monster girl. He uses the least monstrous iterations of these mythical hybrids.

Toumasu (another artist) has drawn mermaid, harpy, lamia (2 types), and spider. The rest of his works are different types of animals, but he has always gone much farther than (other that spider being very close to okayado itteration) monmusu while also keeping it very attractive. He has also done ant, snail, clam, snake, frog, and bat that are more MONSTER than girl.

I mean the biggest one is the ogre woman, i was thinking possibly oni first seeing her but ogre... come on.

I know. I'm just poking further holes in the "its a woman with an animal bit stuck on". Because...that's literally what popular views of mythology portrays many 'monsters' as. X-D

Yes I have a thing for Werewolf chicks.
I'm not sure that really counts as a "monster girl" (although the definition is rather vague), more along the lines of just plain furry. Still ... I'm okay with this.

I still find it confounding that people choose a centaur. Like, a snake I can kinda get. But a centaur? Her boobs are HUGE, and while I do consider that a plus, I most certainly would NOT want to have sex with her. I can't even imagine how many different kinds of weird that would be. I get that she's elegant and honorable and badass and all that, and that's cool. But seriously, I am confounded that you would want to HAVE SEX WITH THE BOTTOM HALF OF A HORSE.
Not that odd. The top half is still a sexy as all get out human, and you still adore her. Plus, according to some MG =fans who are also vets, female horse genitalia tends to be rather sensitive. So you have a lover who is actually pretty easy to please.

...WHAT IS WRONG WITH ALL OF THEIR BOOBS.
They're not ALL like that. Look at Papi:

Her entire body is very small and light so she can fly.

Also I'm afraid the correct reply is the second post in this thread; best monster girl is Miia.
Ah, yes, the alternative 'WHAT IS WRONG WITH THOSE BOOBS' - The vacuum-packed titty. Air-tight sealing for maximum freshness! (not the most egregious case but still, those things are just sealed right on in there.).

Anime titties are my biggest pet peeve, I'm not going to lie. Like, christ, I'm a gay man and I know how titties work, why can't any anime artist draw them without making them either colossal in size or vacuumed-packed? It's always so weird and detracts so much from character designs. If my first response on looking at a character is 'what the fuck is wrong with their boobs', ya'll've fucked up.

Not to get off point or anything, but if you're a gay man, why are you looking at breasts to begin with?

...because sexuality has nothing to do with my taste in character design? Shit, just because I don't want to stick my dick in it doesn't mean I can't find fault with shitty/impractical design practices.

...Hell, for extra mind-fuckery, despite my overwhelming gayness, I can still recognize female characters as 'sexy' if they were designed in such a way, so... yeah, not really getting what you were going for here.

Fair enough. It's just Anime isn't really short of sights people with your taste would like to ogle, so it just struck me as rather odd you'd focus on the girls.

Ehhh, the thread is about anime/manga girls, hence the focus. If someone made a 'best designed monster boy' thread, I'd be right up in that one complaining about anime guys as well.

...I have a lot of complaints about Anime. Dammit, why do all the girls have giant boobs and all the guys look the same? Diversify your designs, anime!
