I played Bioshock until the point where they said and now you get this camera that magically makes you better at killing that particular enemy. I stopped and never looked back.
Really? You stopped playing because you got a potential power up? Seems strange?

I loved it personally, but I think that was mainly due the immersion and storyline. The graphics were of course very nice, and I thought Rapture was very well realized, but it was a bit too easy, and I felt that the shooting mechanics were a little loose (console version). But yeah, great game.

It wasn't the camera that just magically made you better, it was studying the photographs of your enemies and finding weaknesses. Not that you could physically do that in game...

You should really go and play it again.

Personally, I wasn't that impressed by Bioshock. Don't get me wrong, the story of Bioshock is one of my favorites of the videogame medium. However, I found the gameplay itself to be a bit lacking. To me, the shooting seemed a little stiff, and in regards to the whole "custimizing your abilities" aspect, I didn't think it was that revolutionary. For the most part, all the plasmids and tonics were just fun new ways to kill enemies, rather than tools that opened up entirely different strategies. I suppose that I'm a bit spoiled, having played Deus Ex and System Shock 2, but I let the hype get the best of me and was really hoping for a true successor to these types of games, and I was a bit underwhelmed.

It's not for everyone...

If you generally enjoy FPS games I think you'd like it. It's kinda slowly paced because it has some Role-Playing elements but I enjoyed the hell out of it... The visuals and the world are just a thing to see.

I just didn't like it. I couldn't get myself to play through the first hour. The 50s setting kills it for me.
