Is borderlands worth it?

At the discover that there is a Borderlands 2 coming i decided i should take a look into the first game, but i wanted to ask, is it worth getting if you dont play coop? cuz i dont really have any friends on psn

I guess the only thing I can say is that it is hit or miss with single player, I personally enjoyed single player because it became a challenge.

I enjoy single player so long as I use a class/build that suits me, but co-op is definitely better. Since it's $20 used, I think it's worth it even if you play it single player.

I did everything in borderlands barring no DLC, and it's fun but boring without friends.

I've never played it by myself, I don't think I could. I feel the lifeblood of the game is the co-op.

Its pretty much like a single player MMORPG. Which in my opinion makes it boring. Its also impossible to play with friends because their level is too high or too low so they ethier kill everything too easily or they die too easily.

it's a good game worth, $20 or even $60 for the GOTY edition, mostly because of the amount of DLC but I'd pick the GOTY because the second game might involve/mention the secret army or more likely the Claptrap's revolution as well.

Single player? Hell no. If you can get a friend to play it with it is amazing. It was made to be played co-op.

I played it first three play throughs never even entering a coop session. And when I did I thought it was pretty much the same experience.

I would only play the MP with trustworthy friends...or decent honest people...

I always hated playing MP the couple of times someone would just kinda tag along and then vaccum up the contents of the chests... -sigh-

I think it is, I've only done co-op once and did a few missions and it was fun. But I've done majority of it in single player, even though it was build for co-op, and I've had a blast.

The DLC is pretty fun too, at the moment I'm catching up on DLC, General Knoxx to be exact, so I think it's worth checking out.

Did you like Diablo single player? It is just Diablo with less inventive weapon names and a different camera angle. I didn't like it either way. Oh and if you are thinking about it for te PC the GOTY doesn't even have the DLC on disks you will have to download it all. I think that sucks.

I found with coop that to avoid having major level differences, we would just make new characters if a new friend joined. I now despise the game because of the number of times I redid the starting section.
Single player was a grind fest but had it's moments.

I enjoyed it quite a lot in single player and from what I've heard from my friend the multiplayer doesn't really change a whole lot.

Not single player, buy it on pc, get a couple of friends to play with and its the best game out there, sunk so many hours into it with my mates.

it's only worth it if you really like the kind of game borderlands is,i.e. you are a loot whore who likes creative fps, but if you are that type of person you would have properly already got it, like me. Also if you do like it get the dlc as the dlc is way superior to the actual game. That is why I am really looking forward to borderlands 2 as if they to a proportional leap in quality as the dlc then this will not just be my favourite game but also one of the best fps out there.

It lacks any kind of story so the single player is useless, I was really let down by this game. Rage on the other hand looks decent. I'd wait for that and avoid pretty much anything from gearbox software if I were you.
