The story so far: I got MvC3 and decided to play a bit of ranked online. Since this was the first fighting game I have ever played I thought after learning the counters, the combos, the hypers, ect. I could win without too much issue. Then I enter a match and the guys picks that dog from Okami. Then it happens. He just spams B (or Circle for you PS3 owners)(Heavy Attack) then continues to keep me in a corner while mashing that single button.

So the question is: Is every fighting game full of spammers?

Edit: Also, it seems that if someone loses they instantly scream SPAMMER!!!!! Seriously. What is considered spam if fighting games because according to the people I fight doing an Air Combo and then hitting them with a combo when they hit the ground (a easily blocked combo) is considered spamming.

Yes, every game is just like that one match you played. Nobody can resist that one move, that one guy did.

Err, I mean the opposite of what I just said. But if you can't figure out how to get out of it, why would he stop?

You will always find spammers tho. They feed off of tears.
So fighting game trolls?

Basically. That, or they bought the game because the premise is cool and are absolutely terrible at fighters.

Take Soul Calibur IV, for example. Go online, everyone plays some variant of Kilik, all of them spam the same attack over and over.

They bought the game and want to win. Therefore, they find the best way to win that they can, without improving themselves at all.

Anecdote: When I got SC:IV, I went online with it. I play as Kilik and like to think that I'm fairly decent with him, seeing as I can pull off most of his moves without a problem. Well, I get matched with a kid who also picks Kilik at the same time as I do. Both of us, right on cue over the mic say, "Goddammit... Not another Kilik spammer..."

We laughed about it, then had the best match I have ever played in that game to this day.

Moral: You will always find spammers in fighters. Its just something you have to live with.

Yes, every fighting game is like that, which is why I never play fighting games online. At least if you're playing with one of your friends you can turn and punch them in the face when they pull shit like that.

If you keep playing you'll also notice that 90% of the players you encounter in MvC3 will use either Phoenix or Sentinel, or both.

Yeah, my dad pissed me off, he was the only one who played video games in the early years and he spammed in Tekken. My little seven year old fingers were much too weak to hold him back.

Now that I answered your question, is MvC3's controls fast and smooth like tekken or slow and laggish like Street fighter and Mortal Kombat ARM. ?

As people said, there are always those who will spam certain attacks until they win. Sounds like you got unlucky on your first match.

That said though, I'm of the opinion that if you can't figure out how to get out of something, why should your opponent stop doing it?

It's like I tell my friends when I play against them: "I'm going to keep beating you with this until you learn to stop me."

In my opinion MvC flows really well, most of the time you can start linking combo and you forget where one starts and the other ends. Also, I just like it have the Light Medium Heavy system instead of HP LP HK LK ect. system

Online, yes, you will get a lot of those motherfuckers. That's why you only play with someone sitting right next to you, so you can attack them if they start doing it.

Some games are less conducive to spammers, but yeah, they're probably in every game.

The best part of fighting them is that they're incredibly predictable. In MvC3, I love fighting them as Spencer...

Every competitive game, not just fighters, has people like this who simply stick to some basic and yet annoying strategy. There are many players out there that simply want to win with the least bit of effort required, and in turn it's annoying for the other person and makes an otherwise fun match a complete chore.

If there is some character with a spammable move or projectile, you bet your ass you are gonna come across spammers. Knowing blocks, counters, and all that jazz isn't enough for a person to win; you have to know how to properly utilize all the tool at your disposal in order to beat your opponent. Spammers can be annoying, but more often than not there is a way to close in the gap and punish them hard for their cheap and noobish ways. Just a matter of learning how to get around projectile spam and using your characters skills to your advantage.

But the issue is, once the combo start it is unstoppable. The attack hits once every half second and it takes at least a second to get back into an attackable stance. And the combo also hits you into the air which is swiftly followed by a full team air combo. At this point I'm thinking the game is just broken.

Sounds good, haven't gotten my hands on a demo, but I might just try it out. I've been craving a good fighting game lately...although I really don't like anyone at all from Capcoms side...meh GO IRON MAN!

Sadly they didn't release a demo. And Iron Man is grossly underpowered in my opinion.

Nah, I'd say Iron Man is balanced fairly well. He's not very newb-friendly, however.
Everyone I fight just going "Unibeam, unibeam, unibeam, unibeam." I have actually resorted to using the most grossly over powered person. (Dark Pheniox, I don't care if she has low hp, she attacks like 2000 times a second and does extremely high damage)
