What about the French Horn? Though I'm an Orch-Dork, my dad plays brass/reed instruments, so I have some insight into these things. I really do like the french horn.
I actually never played any of those brass instruments. But, I do prefer the sound of trumpet over a French horn.... and if anyone disagrees with me you're a fag :D
"your a gai dooshfag lol. go lik sum dix fag lol. French Horn bendz trumpet over and [Very, very redacted]"
Okay, I'm obviously joking here.
I just really like the French horn, it's a cool instrument.
You were joking? O RLY?
Yeah.
I just wanted to make sure I didn't get a licking from the mods.

I like how this forum turned from me asking about the word 'fag' to how good different instruments are.

As a bisexual person, I find it much more unnerving that "gay" has become a universal insult in our culture, I've heard some people I know for a fact are in no way homophobic do the exact same thing. Hell, I once thought I was about to have a heart attack when I heard on of my actually gay friends call something "gay" in a derogatory way (however I think he might have been joking). The point is, people do this without even thinking about it anymore, and frankly it bothers me.
I'm with you on that with my only difference of being heterosexual myself. My little brother uses it as his all-time favorite curse, and it pisses me off to no end. Whatever happened to gay meaning happy? WHAT'S WRONG WITH BEING HAPPY, DAMN IT!

OT: No, but it's probably the most used besides the F-bomb.

Fag is a laughable insult reserved for those with the least imagination. Also, fag over here is synonymous with cigarette moreso than it is with homosexuals. There goes that insult.

If you mean is it the worst to come up with: yes. If you mean worst to receive: far from it.

No, in fact I think it's one of the weakest insults on the Internet. ...if it could even be considered an insult.

F**k the 18 generations of your ancestors, fag is not nearly as bad as "let a hungry Carpathian long-haired she-wolf blow your d**k, f**k!"

Well I don't find it as annoying as the people who think they're witty by blending a random word with "fuck".
This this THIS. Admittedly, I do hate when people use "fag" as an insult, because it shows such insensitivity and lack of creative thought. But at least those people are openly admitting they're no good at coming up with insults. People calling you "fuckbucket" or "fuckstick" or "fuckornateblackvelvetbedsheetswithfrillyedges" actually think they're really funny and clever, and there's nothing more obnoxious than being condescended to by an incompetent.

The word gay has been around for hundreds of years and has had several meanings, its only in the 20th century that it became used as a word for homosexual.

saying something you don't like is "so gay" is not saying that it is homosexual. I work and socialize in my local gay community and find the term
is often used in the pejorative form by my gay friends.

I can of course only speak from my own experience and it is hard to pin point why the term has developed this derogatory meaning but I believe few if any of the people who use it in this way have any homo-phobic intentions.

I totally understand why it would bother you but I don't see it going any where any time soon, its too ingrained now.

At the end of the day words should only offend if they are delivered with malice or malicious intent.

Everytime someone calls me fag I laugh because fag also is slang for ciggarete in Britain and bread in france. The word fag is the most unoriginal and overused insult I have ever heard

Nope.
I rather like bundles of sticks, y'know? They're pretty handy for making fires. Or making into furniture, if they're strong enough.
You read my mind. Also, you can beat people with sticks and use them to poke them as well.

I don't really think there is a "Most offensive word" on the internet. Sure some words are bad, but they really only hurt if it has a direct connection to you. Different things effect different people in different ways.
