Hey buddy, you think gaming isn't original? There's this game that just came out, and I'm pretty sure it'll prove you wrong. It's called "Catherine."

If clones meant gaming was dead, then so would movies, books, and music. There are always clones, easy money grubbers, and people who are just unoriginal...but that doesn't mean that there aren't still gems to find in the dung heap.

*looks up playing from wow, minecraft and TF2 (owned before f2p)*

I see nothing dying (ok, yes, wow has lost subscribers I know). Heck ME3 is out soon, as well as loads of other major games so no, I don't think it is.

On the other hand, I'm going to say what I believe Movie Bob did and that was, games aren't dying, just gaming as we know it. With so many free to play flash games, as well as tablet/ moblie phones now being a viable gaming platform. Ontop of that we have a lot of online games going free to play and I also see massive games like WoW increasing their free to play abilties even more as they'll probably introduce a similar Monetary Auction house into the game, such as the one in Diablo 3.

Ok, I've gone off topic here... kinda.

What I'm trying to say is that no, it's not dying.... just hold on as gaming as we know it begins to shift.

sequels are totally understandable if you look at them from a programmer's perspective. it's way easier to re-use code than to write new stuff. with games becoming bigger, more complicated, and more graphics intensive, it makes a whole lot more sense to squeeze a product till no more sequels are possible than to make new and original games

Far from dead...gaming is simply in a period of stagnation for the hardcore console market. Indie games and new controls are providing new ways to experience gaming while wireless and free facebook style games are paving the way to future gaming.

I don't enjoy where gaming is going, but it is very much a growing medium, not a dying one.

No. Just because there's alot of shit out of there, it doesn't mean that the medium's dying. It's not even a case of having to shift through all that shit to get to the diamonds; all you have to do cut down on your consumption of gaming news. Seriously, just play whatever is popular and looks good, thats it. That probably sounds bad, but if you really think that games are dying because of all the bad games, then that's the only solution I can give you.

The games industry has always had clones and sequels. This isn't really a recent phenomenon, it's been going on since the NES days. You have to wade through all the crap to get to the gems.
