Well it's not a set of rules that it's written somewhere, it is just etiquette. And it's not complex at all. Hitting anyone is impolite and uncivilised.Twilight_guy said:I don't make the rules I just know that its in the code of chivalry (somewhere) that men don't hurt ladies. GO ask the complex relationship of medieval values modern romanticism and cultural trends if you want to know why.AWAR said:What about hitting a boy is as worse as hitting a girl? Social norms are social norms. There's also the expectation that women won't engage in violent behavior, not that it's of any justification.DarthScorpio11 said:I mean, I'm 21, and my sister is 19. Growing up we used to hit each other all of the time. Hit, punch, bite (well she used to bite me sometimes), pinch, push, and a few times slap. Mostly as a kid, however we did it every now and then as teenagers. We don't really fight anymore except verbally. The last physical altercation was about a few months ago, when my sister was pissed about something and blocked me in the hallway, and started yelling at me and shoving me. At first i just stood there waiting for her to move out of my way, and then she did it again, so i shoved her out of the way far enough for me to get through.
I dunno, i'm not even that big. I'm about 5'7'' and 112 pounds, and she's about 5'4'' and 115 pounds. So, i think it's fair. She's bigger than me...
As a 112 pound guy, i legitimately think a lot of girls could potentially be a threat against my safety if they were to attack me. I hate how everyone assumes just because im a guy im automatically much stronger, and a girl couldn't possibly be a threat, and i have no reason defending myself. Whatever happened to equality?
Now, im not for some big buy beating up his wife just because he's a douche. However, i think people should stop thinking in black and white about everything.
It was just an example. I hold doors for everyone, and I'm nice to everyone, but sometimes girls really like to get on my nerves. Stuff like: "Oh, help me, I'm just a girl, I'm not strong enough to carry..."Twilight_guy said:Holding a door open is a nice thing to do regardless of gender. You shouldn't make people make you sandwiches. Everyone knows that hand made sandwiches are better. Be sure not to confuse sexism and being an asshole and slamming doors on people though.MasTerHacK said:I totally agree with you, my good sir. The next time a girl asks me why didn't I hold the door for her I'm just gonna ask if she believes in equality among sexes. If she answers yes, I will tell her to piss off. Otherwise, by all means will I open the door for her, and then I will send her into the kitchen to make me a damn sandwich.Twilight_guy said:Did I say anything about whether or not I'm a gentleman or if I believe in hitting a girl or not? No, I didn't. Don't put words into my mouth, thank you very much.DarthScorpio11 said:So, if you're a short guy, and some bodybuilder woman corners you, starts beating you up. Then proceeds to attacking your family, you'll just standby and watch?Twilight_guy said:Hitting a girl is bad if you are a gentleman.
