It use to see things like IMO, or SP? and be able to look up what those letters meant, but nowadays I can't help but notice people are just making them up at their leisure. Does anyone else feel this way? Or have we just gone crazy.
wtf u talkin bout?!1

Just playing, Magnetic. Indeed, it's getting out of hand. Sure, a while ago it was "Yeah, okay, that's interesting..." Now it's "Okay, that's just hurting my head to even try to read."

Their common defense is "It's easier" or "faster". Alright, so when ever you ask me for something I type "no" because it's easier then "yes".
Just say this. If you going to type "plz" cause its easier than "please" than I'm going to type "no" because its easier than "yes".

I feel sorry for those who have to abbreviate their sentences so drastically.

They must not be very fast at typing.

I'd rather have abbreviations for many things, than the travesty people make of English and grammar.

Leet speak isn't out of control. Sure, bad grammar and spelling are; but the only time you ever see leet speak is in people's names.

As long as the words convey some sort of meaning they are fine. For example; if my girlfriend texts me with "I luv you" I know what is going on. Where it annoys me personally, is when people use shorthand just to reply to something they actually have nothing to say anything about.

For example:
A: So I was talking to Jenny about microfusion heaters in the home.
B: That's an area of research I am very interested in, what did she say?
A: Well she was talking about how to dispose of spent fuel cells...
C: Fuel Cells FTW!

Not All of them. I use correct grammar, after all.
This is what is known as "Irony".
Nope. it's known as, what you would call, "An Escapist Youth."
I believe the irony he was referring to was the fact that the first and second words in your sentence both begin in capitals.

That, and the comma between "grammar" and "after" was not needed.

This is also incorrect, as the "what you would call" part of your sentence is superflous, because you have already illustrated that point when you said "it's known as". Also, after the "Nope." You haven't used capitals.

I still don't understand a bit of internet shorthand; it took me a while to work out that 'STFU' means 'Shut The F@ck Up', not Stuff You.

Anyways, what does 'IMO' mean?

In My Opinion

I always thought that it was just someone misspelling "emo" and screaming it at the same time.
I also used to thing QFT meant "Quit F*cking Talking"

You do realize that people have started putting chatspeak in their RESUMES (The things for job interviews)? This is just pathetic folks. Stop it. It may let you talk faster on your phone, but in real life, it feels much better to actually LAUGH than say lol.

I could see where that would go horribly wrong.

'IMO slash their wrists.'
