This game is new, and most certainly does not suck.kevin_kaya said:Is this just me?
I havent found a game I like made within the last 4 years!
The games I like: Warcraft3, counter strike cz, Tombraider (1,2,3,4), crash bandicoot, Gran Turismo, Tekken 3, GTA, Diablo2, old PES, worms (2, world party, armageddon), a mmorpg called Tibia a while back. As you can see I play most genres![]()
Games I have tried to like: Crysis, COD4, new tombraiders, wow, new fifa+PES, Gears of War 1, Test drive unlimited etc.
I play them for a couple hours (if that even) then just stop, theyre just boring, thats the only way I can explain it.
I got my first games console at age 5, a PS1 then GB colour, GB Advanced SP, PS2, XBOX 360, Wii and a proper gaming pc couple years ago. I sold my Wii after 2 weeks because it sucked, only console I have at the moment is PS2 and 360, havent played neither for over a year.
I'm 15 now, the only game I play ocassionally is warcraft3 and thats it, am I just getting too old for games or what??
It feels like the new games are too easy, in terms of requiring creativity and theyre just not.. exciting.. I remmeber playing tomb raider finding hidden areas and actually caring about the game, wanting to complete it, finding out how the story ends.. the stories on the new games are just crap, I just dont care about them, it feels meaningless ???
Well I think it depends on what youre looking for in a game, if I want an "experience" ill watch a movie, I have a proper gaming desktop with gaming mouse/pc expensive 5.1 speakers and I can admitt it wasent "crap" but it was far from "fun" maybe I just need to try different games like fallout, but I dont want to waste £20+ on a game I might just play for a few hours..Powerman88 said:I dislike these threads of people whining about how "mainstream" games suck and how things used to be so much better. I have been console gaming since 1991 (I got my Sega bundled with the original Sonic) and gaming on computers since 1988 on my dad's Apple IIc. That makes me 2 things; old(er than 15) and VERY experienced in video games.
Games have changed a lot in the last 20 years (fucking DUH) and there are a lot of new options available to developers. There are also a lot more genres (they do make AWESOME games that aren't fps btw).
If you liked Warcraft 3 try Supreme Commander (on PC before xbox). The game is probably the most unique rts ever concieved (spiritual successor to Total Annihilation). Instead of Warcraft's micro management focused gameplay it emphaises macro management and balancing economic growth and mass output that can lead to some AWESOME battles. You couldn't do that on psx or n64.
I personally also really love the "popcorn" games (as I've come to call them) that are coming out lately. Games like Assassin's Creed, Ghostbusters, and Dead Space. Games that give you a fun, dazzling cinematic experience. Yea they might not suck you in like a great strategy game that gives you 30+ hours, but they are a ton of fun (and piss off my neighbors from the bass in my surround sound system).
EVEN CASUAL GAMES HAVE SOME FUN STUFF TO DO. Anyone who hasn't had a late night Rock Band session (you are 15 so NO DRINKING YET. At least don't let your parents catch you). If you don't have fun rocking out to Journey with three of your closest (read drunkest) friends then you have something wrong with you.
There really are a lot of innovations and new ways to go in games and, weather you haters like to admit it or not, a lot of developers really put some great work into crafting new, unique experiences that give a great sense of immersion and are a ton of fun.
To end my rant its just you and a bunch of loser nerds who don't like anything.
