I would like too see your opinion.

So you wake up one morning, or not, if you are unlucky, and you find yourself wondering about your days. You have been sitting around playing games since you could first hold a controller. But should you find something new to do? Barrack Obama says you should.

But I thought about it, and I came to realise that society is uncertain of the effects that role reversal would bring. I mean, naturally the attractive children should procreate, go out, have wild parties, and eventually take a lethal amount of drugs and die at the ripe old age of twenty.
While the unattractive people, like, say for example, ME. Should, for the sake of decency, remain indoors and practice their profession or pass time in the cool dark of a bedroom full of game consoles. This is good. Each side gets what they want. But why is it that the bedroom people must be ridiculed for not socialising? If you think about it, why do the outside people want great hordes of zombie-like bedroom people cluttering up the clean streets? If I were them I would encourage them to remain out of sight and out of mind. And by "them" I mean me and people very much like me.

I mean, hypathetically, If I were a spunky hunk with balloons for muscular tissue I would take every opportunity to court ladies (that's flirt, if you are not familiar with that phrase) and embrace the wonders of the natural world, such as drugs. But I am not. I am sixteen, pale, skinny, and have spent my time up till now in an alternative reality where I am a mass genocidal bastard. Its all very well for them to criticize but you might as well tell them to remain indoors and avoid contact with other humans for years on end playing cheap steam games. They would go mad!

Thoughts please? Just so you know I do talk to people fairly regularly. This is not a freak show thread where you see my steady collapse into insanity. But your opinions would be appreciated.

Barak Obama also wants me to pay for everyone elses health care. I'll stick to my xbox.

As for the rest of your post, I play Halo, CoD, and what ever else with members of my unit. None of us are exactly the nerdy type, as we have all seen front line combat and killed at least one person in anger.

Gaming is a way to unwind and have fun with friends, I don't think that should be viewed as being the exclusive domain of "basement dwelling cheeto feinds"

Maybe they're hoping that by forcing us into society, we'll change and become those "spunky hunks with balloons for muscular tissue."

I, frankly, don't give a damn about conforming to them or how they live. I'm me, get the hell over it.

I would say it's okay to be a gamer, but not on the basis that "if you're ugly, you should stay out of sight." I would love to see a society where being ugly is not the primary factor people judge you on. I've seen lots of beautiful gamers, and lots of hideous trainwrecks. And everybody has a talent beyond being an awesome gamer. Being a gamer might even hone those skills, but you still have to make time for real life.

First off, your on a GAMING forum...do you expect a no?

Secondly, could that have been more insulting to gamers, seriously? You may not have the highest self-esteem but that doesn't mean you group the entire gaming demographic into pale fat weak 30 year olds who never go outside and only play games because they could never get laid and have no real friends. No seriously, I have a social life, I (not at the moment) have had a girlfriend MANY times, and I still consider myself a true gamer. Being Unsocial doesn't mean your a gamer, it means your just unsocial and hide behind gamers.

Also, people should go outside. I'm not saying give up gaming, but don't just game straight for 24 hours a day.

Obama is a politic, and we all know how they feel about games. I don't care if it is Obama, I'm not conforming to someone who has absolutely no idea. Oh, and it's fine to be a gamer. I'd prefer to be a gamer than a muscle head anyway. And you know those stereotypes about gamers? FUCK THEM!

Can't you have both? One of my friend's manages to get a new girlfriend every couple of weeks, not to mention does the usual drinky-party-happy-fun.
But he's also spent longer on "Halo" and "Gears of War" than some people have spent sleeping.

But anyway, if you don't enjoy parying and drugs and all that, why would you want to do it? Let the pretties rule the steet and the gamers to the tech, I suppose.

I am so confused.

You believe that attractive and unattractive people should be completely and utterly divided? You do know that attractiveness is subjective, right?

lol of course im kidding, im already insane btw..
Eurgh, I hate it when people say this. You are not insane, and it isn't cool to be insane. If you've ever met an insane person, or even read about the effects and whatnot enough you'd know that.

I'm sorry if I sound rude, but it really tics me off.

OT: Yes, it is okay. It's also okay to play games on occasion, and it's also okay to not sit in your basement eating cheetos while doing it. Also, don't do drugs you attractive idiots. >:|

Okay OP, I figure your post is supposed to be sarcastic, but did you seriously have to polarize the world like that? The world isn't just black and white with "attractive" and "unattractive" people who party or sit at home, there's every single shade of gray in between. Just because you play video games a lot doesn't make you a freak in the eyes of others. Really, its mostly how you perceive yourself, so just take a heavy dose of nerd pride and just live it up regardless. I'm not saying you have to go to parties or anything, you just don't need to pigeon hole yourself and the rest of the gamers out there.

In short, fight the stereotype.

I dont get what you mean by us, were not some lower-species and we dont spend our entire life in our caves speaking like golum, while caressing our Xboxes and Ps3's.

i like gaming, i like socialising, i like wild parties, i like Lan parties,i have gaming friends, i have real friends, and i have and have had girlfriends. me being a gamer does not limit me to a life of solitude, nor does it impact my social life, people have questioned my gaming, i respond that its my hobby like playing soccer is yours, get the fuck over it.

as for hardcore bodies, again its the person not the hobby, im happy with my muscle mass, im using a light weight in one hand and typing with the other because now you've gone and reminded me that i want more muscle mass, so damn you because press-ups are terrible.

Obama is smart with his statement, go out and socialise, you are not somehow lower because you perceive yourself as unattractive, because chances are you arnt, get some confidence, if you mention your a gamer, then most people wont bat an eye-lid.

I don't think its OK to just be a gamer. To play games is fine, but when you become identified only by the fact that you play games, its a problem. I myself have been gaming since I realized my thumbs could bend inwards, but I would never label myself a gamer, cause its just something that I do. I don't have every console known to man or never leave my room, and I damn well don't aspire to start doing so, and neither should anyone else.

Wow chill. I have a fine self esteem, I fact I love being me. I get to do what I want to do pretty much all the time. But I just don't want to go and socialise with that type of person. I am just mystified as to why they assume we are pitiful and discontented with our lives, and want us to socialise. Maybe it is similar to religion? Maybe they feel superior? I'm just speculating! And also I believe I am the most qualified person to insult gamers, Because I am nearing the definition of it. And I did not want to insult anybody in particular. If anything I find gamers are by far the lesser of two evils.
