Well for one thing a gospel saying that Judas should be praised for the sacrifice of Jesus.

Yeah. Take Doom and give it a storyline covering morality and convey it in an epic "Fate of the world" meaning.

They were fought mainly against Muslims, though campaigns were also directed against pagan Slavs, Jews, Russian and Greek Orthodox Christians, Mongols, Cathars, Hussites, Waldensians, Old Prussians, and political enemies of the popes.
Hence, basically anyone who went "Oh, wait a secon-".[/quote]

Ah, touche. Alright, I see what you are saying, but for one, the Crusades would make a good game, and for two, lets not have one on this thread, what ever they were for.

They've made good games about other fictional events and characters. Why the hell not?
That joke was already made. Please don't start a Crusade in this thread.
I'm sure it has been. And I'm not trying to "start a Crusade in this thread". Also, I find your capitalization of "Crusade" interesting, seeing as how it was Christians who had the Crusades and killed anything that said "Oh hey, wait a secon-"

^-^
Sorry, Catholic school. I'm used to capitalizing the 'C'.
See the panic and arguing you've caused??

you would have to take something and blow it way out of proportion, and even then you would have to delve into the realms of blasphemy to make it enjoyable.

A good series that has many references to christianity : Halo series.
Well... It may not be a bible game, but it's as close as we've come with a good game so far.

Recently? Yeah, old testament for the win!
I'll see you Halo and raise you Xenogears.

Of course, look at all the controversy that caused.

Why not a Total War style game in the Old Testament? I'd play it.
Excellent. I see it as from Medieval 2 where they introduced heroes. The people of Israel would be almost unfairly outnumbered but through tactics and the badassery of some of their heroes they stand a good chance at victory.

Alternativly, a Total War game of Heaven Vs. Hell. A 3 tier map. Heavan, Earth, and Hell. The goal is to defeat your adversary (naturally Hell if playing as Heavan and vice versa). Where Earth comes into play is that in order to get to the other tier (1 getting to 3 but you have to go through tier 2) you have to go through a gate.

From the Hell Gate come thousands of demons intent on destroying humanity. From Heavan come the angels to protect them. The game starts in the middle of a war on Earth and it takes a few turns before humanity realizes the threat and unites against it. Human armies would be vastly inferior to the army of Hell and as such wouldn't be able to survive if the angels wouldn't come down to save them. Hell's army would be physically stronger but lacking angelic wings they wouldn't be as mobile.

As for recruiting and all that let me sleep on it as I've done all the thinking I can at this hour (just past 1:00am).

It's more to do with the fact that the current Bible games out are trying to shove Christianity down people's throats (and even though I'm Christian, I hardly appreciate this). There are tons of excellent stories they could use, and it doesn't even have to be events from the Bible. Considering the long and bloody history of Christianity, I think there should be more games exploring the Crusades (like Assassin's Creed).

Okay heres the game...you play as Jesus and you walk around Isreal healing the sick and giving wisedom to everyone...you have to sneak around as to avoid Romans and if found you intiate combat...which consists of converting them by turning the other cheek

and if you convert over 70% of Jerusalem....Jesus has to use his detective-esque deduction skills to find out who the traitor is....he has to avoid being put on trial and slipping up to making him Gulity...PHOENIX WRIGHT STYLE!

OBJECTION! You called me the son of God...I didn't!

OVERULE'D!

And if you win...
YOU ACTIVATE- GOD MODE!!!!

Regardless of whether you believe the stories from the Bible, I don't think there's any denying that there are some very good stories there, particularly in the Old Testament. I'm a complete atheist, but I would totally play a good Bible based RPG/action adventure game of something. Maybe an RTS. Or a god game where you actually play as God.

Not so much a game based on the bible but I clearly believe a game based to some degree on the rise of the Israelite Army as they descended upon Canaan and proceed to erect the nation of Israel would be kind of interesting if done right (which would consist of subject matter from Exodus, Deuteronomy, and Joshua). Personally I'd like to see something like Dynasty Warriors, but a more stategy based game might also be fun.

Granted some would say playing a game where the Israelite Army proceeds to genocide the living shit out of Canaan could be bad thing, but since when is war not genocide if it isn't a civil war?

I detest organized religion, and I'd play it.

Oh, hey? here's a thought. You know that ***** who slandered Mass Effect without playing it, saying it was frankly sexual in nature, what would she say about Song of Songs being in a game? That shit is sick. And badly written, but that's another story.

An angel game? Fly around as an angel and kill stuff in a city with a Prototype-esque situation. I'd buy it as long as it wasn't preachy in any noticeable way.

I could interpret a bible story that way if I looked through the book, so that counts.

It could be done, alot of the story's in the bible could be converted to puzzle/adventure like games with minor action/platforming. (cant name any though, since im athiest Ive only read the 2 big books once (bible + Koran ) )

It takes balls from a dev though.

I'd love to play as Judas. If you think about it, he's the one who really saved our souls and blah-di-blah. Could be some very interesting character development there.
